Project Title: The Victory Center Education Program
Project Description:

Individuals affected by autism experience abroad range of challenges. Unfortunately, many public schools are not equipped with the resources necessary to adequately address the needs of these students. The TVC Education Program provides high-quality, center-based educational services to students on the autism spectrum. Unique to the South Florida community, the program combines educational instruction, daily living, and community skills training with therapy that is based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which is the only scientifically proven form of therapy used to treat individuals with autism. It proves intensive educational support and a highly individualized curriculum for TVC students who are all complex learners with autism and other developmental disabilities. The school has grown to include six programs: Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) and Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI), Pre-Academy, the Vocational Program, Adult Program, and Respite/Community Programs which include Aftercare and weekly activities. In addition to the 1:1 student/teacher ratio, TVC has implemented both 2:1 and 3:1 student/teacher ratios, enabling more students on the spectrum to receive educational services. Each child receives what he or she needs to develop their full potential. We are currently experiencing our highest enrollment levels in the school ‘s history with a wait list for the first time.

Project Title: Building Youth into Leaders
Project Description:

Real Men Real Leaders is a 501c3 nonprofit that was founded in 2011 to teach male youth in Finney County life skills through hands-on core values. It is the only male-focused, youth-serving organization in Garden City, Kansas. Our mission is “cultivating young men into leaders by influencing positive decision-making”. We believe that inherent in each of the boys we serve is incredible potential.

At our beginning in 2011, Real Men Real Leaders focused on mentorship, but since its founding, also saw the need to place an emphasis on leadership to build strong leaders within the community. Consequently, in August of 2020, a committee, composed of Real Men Real Leaders board members, honorary board members, and members from the community, was formed. At that time, they created 8 Core Values for the Leadership Program. Starting in 2022, the Core Values were streamlined to 5. These Core Values were designed to create leadership skills and guide and mold the youth into reaching their full potential and to be productive, involved, and positive citizens in their communities.

Each of the Core Values has a lesson plan associated with it that is structured in a way that teaches the leadership indicators associated with the specific Core Value. When a lesson plan is completed, the youth earn a Core Value Challenge Coin. Upon completion of all 5 Core Value lessons, and after receiving the challenge coins for all 5, the youth graduate from the program and become Real Men Real Leaders alumni.

As classes graduate and Real Men Real Leaders alumni membership increases, more and more youth will have been prepared to successfully navigate life’s challenges and have the necessary skills to be positive leaders in their families, social circles, and community settings.

Project Title: Health and Nutrition: Focus on Families
Project Description:

HACER’s programs focus on the most pressing needs of low-income families and individuals in our community: food, affordable housing, and access to health services and other community resources. Operating since 2010, HACER’s La Casita food pantry program’s main objective is to make nutritious food available to food insecure families and individuals. We distribute nutritious food twice a month (1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month). Recipients utilize an app and may receive food as often as needed. We have also added a less formal distribution on Sundays for those who are unable to make it to our regular distributions. Additionally, our staff or volunteers routinely deliver food to those who are housebound and unable to attend our distributions.

HACER maintains partnerships with Feeding South Florida and the Palm Beach County Food Bank and receives donated food from Goya and the United Way. HACER also makes direct food purchases, such as purchasing turkeys for our annual Feast of Giving event. During The Feast of Giving, held every November, we distribute food packages containing canned goods, dry foods, grains, pasta, fresh vegetables, and a turkey, so that families and individuals can partake in a special meal for the holiday. In 2022, the Feast of Giving event served 4,022 people (a total of 1,000 families) and distributed 27,000 pounds of food.

La Casita is our most active program. During the height of the pandemic, we served an unprecedented number of individuals, distributing 692,520 pounds of food to 42,492 people. Prior to the onset of the pandemic, it was typical for us to serve 150-175 families at each distribution. In 2022 we served 6874 families, 25,852 individuals, and distributed 438,259 pounds of nutritious food. We are currently serving between 350 and 500 families at each distribution.

Total Project Budget: $199,407

Today’s Date: February 24, 2023
Requested Amount: $10,000

Project Title: Recreation Transportation Bus
Project Description:

The Charles Strong Recreation located at Luxora is a haven for the youth in the community to play sports and be involved in after-school activities. The center is now operating our annual summer enrichment program. Being physically active brings many benefits to the children and the community. There are many long-term benefits to participating in sports. In an era of increased concern regarding childhood obesity, playing sports significantly and positively affects children’s weight, provides stronger muscles, and increases cardiovascular endurance (Gellner, 2018). Other benefits include developing sportsmanship, promoting an active lifestyle, and learning time management skills (Five Reasons Why…, n.d.).

The project for which we seek funding is to provide safe transportation for our youth. We presently have a 1991 Chevrolet 14-passenger bus. The bus has well over 300,000 miles and has transported the area’s children and adults on hundreds of trips. Along with transporting children to sporting events, we have used it for field trips to Manila, Jonesboro, and Memphis. The bus has no air conditioning, and the heater is failing. We are looking to get at least a 14-passenger van to provide our youth with a safe mode of transportation to and from the different activities.

Total Project Budget: $50,000

Project Title: Children’s Therapy Program
Project Description:

Act4Me’s mission is to provide therapies to South Florida children with neurological and/or genetic disorders, allowing them to reach their highest potential and have a better quality of life.

Developmental disabilities in children are on the rise. According to the CDC, 1 in every 44 children were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in 2018, a dramatic increase from 1 in 150 in 2002! Act4Me serves South Florida children suffering from developmental delays caused by neurological and/or genetic disorders, such as autism, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy. The proven method of treatment to help these children overcome individual challenges is consistent therapy – physical, speech and occupational. However, in a country with an imperfect healthcare system, the financial burden for therapy is often too much
for many families to bear.

Act4Me closes the economic gap and ensures equity for all children with disabilities by making life-altering therapies accessible to those who otherwise could not afford it.

Every year, South Florida parents and caretakers apply to Act4Me for physical, occupational, or speech therapy for a child with special needs. Act4Me reviews applications, interviews applicants, determines award amounts, and provides the therapy needed for an entire year through partnerships with established providers.

Since 2009, Act4Me has made a positive impact in the lives of over 240 children. Basic milestones, such as learning to communicate verbally or learning to feed oneself, are major triumphs for this population, as each success improves day-today functions, builds independence, and enhances the quality of life of each child.

On behalf of the board and the families we serve, please consider supporting our efforts. A $10,000 grant can help provide speech, occupational and physical therapy for an entire year for 45 South Florida children in financial need who suffer from neurological and genetic disorders.

Thank you for your consideration.

Total Project Budget: 250,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Act4Me board members participate in fundraising efforts year-round in order to support therapy for children with disabilities. Our $250,000 annual goal directly correlates to the number of children we are able to serve each year. Please help us meet this goal! Project Title: Helping the society’s underprivileged ones to conduct a marriage for their children.
Project Description:

It is every parents’ dream to see their children getting married and settling off nicely in their lives. Although this seems super normal for all of us, we also have to understand it is often a scary thought for a lot of people in our society as they often fail to bear all the burden of expenses that comes with this beautiful dream.
We remember when our friend had experienced this at his place where one fine morning an old lady came knocking at the door and in a sickly voice asked for some money to help her with her daughter’s wedding and fell down due to the heat. That experience had moved our friend and hearing that we also were strongly moved by it and decided to build up this organisation where we can help such parents.
In our organization, we strongly believe that every parent should have their chance to see their kids happy and getting married in the way they wanted to be and no financial burden or restraint should stop that. Hence, we collectively help such families by donating money or other necessary things to help them successfully conduct a delightful occasion for their children.
By the year 2025 we aim to conduct at least 10,000 weddings at a free of cost where the parents would have to bear no pressure and can be given a serene occasion.

Project Title: To help Sick people with their expenses
Project Description:

COVID-19 was definitely a striking period for all of us and many of us are still trying to recover from several losses that we have experienced during the pandemic be it a monetary loss or an emotional loss. However, according to the statistics, COVID-19 has mostly impacted the marginal groups of the society, the ones from those millions of families who died every day from not having access to the proper medical services or essential medicines or medicinal services when needed. These families were often unable to meet the expenses of the same and thus they had no choice other than witnessing death.
Not only the pandemic, these families are often met with such fate as they are on a daily basis unable to collect the necessary monetary help that is needed to help out themselves.
The situation that had arisen at the time of COVID-19 made us think about the horrible situation that these people are living in and helped us establishing this organisation, from then on via several crowdfunding and charities we have helped several such families in need.
We at our organisation believe that everybody has a right to live on this planet and nobody should face such consequences just out of monetary issues. Hence, we aim to provide and we continue to provideall the necessary medicines or hospital services when needed, so that they no human being has to suffer a horrible pain and accept death just out of financial crunch.
We also aim to conduct regular health camps, or medicine distribution camps and blood donation camps to widen and expand the support in several communities and aim to at least establish 100 such medical institutions that strictly aid to such families at a free of cost by the year 2026.

The program is designed to assist children diagnosed with birth trauma, traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, Down syndrome or other brain related condition that resulted in a developmental delay. Services offered by the rehabilitation program are individually designed to stimulate each client’s brain and “rewire” the damaged or underdeveloped areas.
