Requested Amount: $10,000

Project Title: Free Teen Health Services
Project Description:

Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi (PPTNM) respectfully requests $10,000 to support free teen health services at our Tennessee health centers. Last fiscal year, we served more than 2,000 teens ages 19 and under, and we provided their care for free. This adjustment amounts to roughly $250,000 per year. Free teen sexual and reproductive health care is vital to help teens establish lifelong healthy habits, address sensitive issues confidentially, and prevent minor health problems from becoming serious, costly, or chronic conditions. It removes financial barriers for families, ensuring adolescents receive essential support, treatment, and preventive care. PPTNM’s free teen services promote early intervention and prevention, allowing for early detection of health issues. Planned Parenthood is known for its nonjudgmental care, and teens are more likely to seek help for sensitive topics like sexual health if services are confidential and free. Providing our services at no cost also helps us to reduce health disparities in the community, ensuring that high quality, equitable care for teenagers is available for low-income families, which in turn reduces reliance on emergency rooms for non-urgent issues. Finally, investing in adolescent health builds a foundation for a healthier, more productive adulthood and helps ensure long-term health outcomes as teens learn to care for themselves during critical developmental stages.

We provide reproductive health services including family planning counseling and birth control; pregnancy testing and options counseling; gynecological care including Pap tests; clinical breast exams; emergency contraception; HIV testing and counseling; screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections; safer sex counseling; and referrals for specialized care. In the past, teen services were covered under the Title X federal family planning program and TennCare. Under this administration, we have lost these funding streams, and so we are requesting assistance to continue providing vital teen health services.

Total Project Budget: $250,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): $50,000 City of Knoxville; remaining costs covered by PPTNM general operating budget

Project Duration: 12 months
Geographical Area Served: Tennessee

Project Title: Creating Belonging Through the Arts
Project Description:

Arts In Reach (AIR) is a creative youth development program, closing opportunity gaps through free, inclusive arts programs that nurture creativity, foster belonging, and build the protective factors youth facing adversity need to thrive into adulthood.

AIR provides free, innovative community arts programs, mentoring, and transportation for youth navigating barriers to success, including poverty, social isolation, and limited access to enrichment opportunities. At a time when youth mental health challenges are rising nationwide, AIR offers a safe, inclusive refuge where young people find belonging and support during the hours they might otherwise be isolated. Here, art serves as more than enrichment—it becomes a proven tool for self-exploration, constructive expression, and connection to the larger community.

AIR’s programs embody national best practices in creative youth development, reflecting emerging research on how culture-centered, community-based arts experiences support both well-being and well-becoming for young people.

Professional artists teach across a wide range of mediums, serving simultaneously as instructors, mentors, and role models. They adapt curricula based on youth voices, stories, and needs, creating programming that is responsive, affirming, and culturally relevant. These experiences nurture artistic skill and confidence, transform stress into expression, and establish artful sanctuaries of belonging where youth form meaningful connections with peers and trusted adults. Programs culminate in public showcases that strengthen community bonds and elevate youth voices.

A $10,000 investment will provide approximately 60 youth with access to a season of programming, covering teaching artists, transportation, and materials that make participation possible.

Through expressive projects, field trips, and service-learning opportunities, participants discover pathways into adulthood while building confidence, identity, and resilience. Long-term alumni data shows sustained gains in confidence, connection, and direction, with many participants continuing into higher education, creative fields, and community leadership—realizing their potential well beyond their time at AIR.

Project Title: Summit Chromebooks
Project Description:

We are a K-12 independent school in Louisville, KY serving children who learn differently. The mission of Summit Academy of Greater Louisville is to provide a transformative educational experience for students who learn differently by cultivating each student’s academic, social, and emotional success in a vibrant and compassionate environment.
Due to widespread confusion and stigma about their abilities, students with learning differences are often misunderstood by the greater community. They are unfairly judged, stereotyped, and bullied, which often leads to anxiety and low self-esteem. In reality, these students can achieve at extremely high levels when given effective instruction and proper tools. Their brains simply receive and process information differently. Approximately 20% of children in the U.S. have a learning or attention issue. Each year we serve 120+ students who learn differently in grades PK-12.
33% of students with an ADHD diagnosis do not receive school-based help
Only 30% of general educators feel strongly that they can successfully teach students who learn differently, yet the majority of these students are in a general education setting 80% of their day
Summit Academy is accredited by the Kentucky Department of Education, and governed by all policies and procedures applicable to a certified, non-public school in the state of Kentucky.
Summit is also fully accredited by, and a member of, the Independent School Association of the Central States (ISACS) and the Kentucky Association for Independent Schools (KAIS)
Summit Programs and Services:
– Speech Therapy
– Occupational Therapy
– Small Class Sizes (6 to 1 Student to Teacher Ratio)
– Flexible groupings for literacy and math based on achievement level, rather than grade level
– Only accredited independent high school in the Louisville area that works exclusively with students with learning differences
– School to Work program that helps our student population develop real-world work experiences, while still in school
– Whole-Child educational model
– Individualized learning plans for each student
– Star Assessments to track student progress
– Integration of sensory-friendly technology in every classroom
– A Chromebook for every student
– After-school activities focused on social development and teamwork

We currently need 50 more chromebook for our students. We are asking for 30 chromebooks

Project Title: Sunrise Day Camp – Greater Washington
Project Description:

Sunrise Day Camp–Greater Washington brings the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings ages 3 ½-16 throughout the Greater Washington area. A program of the Pozez Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Northern Virginia, Sunrise provides an inclusive summer day camp, year-round programs, and in-hospital recreational activities—all offered completely free of charge. Sunrise programs foster community, inspire confidence, and replace fear with friendship, ensuring that families facing pediatric cancer feel seen, supported, and never alone.
A childhood cancer diagnosis affects the entire family. Parents often juggle unpaid leave and mounting medical expenses, siblings experience anxiety and isolation, and children undergoing treatment lose access to the social connections and everyday joys that define childhood. These challenges can have lasting emotional and developmental effects, yet opportunities for play, connection, and healing are frequently out of reach during times of crisis.
Sunrise fills this critical gap in care by providing joyful, medically supported experiences designed to meet both emotional and physical needs. Our compassionate staff, engaging and developmentally appropriate activities, on-site nurses, and fully accessible facilities create a safe and nurturing environment for every child. Through summer camp, year-round programming, and family-centered outings, children with cancer and their siblings are able to simply be kids.
What started as a small program reaching 44 children in summer 2022 grew to 134 children in summer 2025, and we expect to serve more than 150 participants in summer 2026, reflecting both growing demand and meaningful impact. As we continue to expand in 2026, we remain committed to removing all possible financial, emotional, and logistical barriers so that every family can access the joy, connection, and healing they deserve.

Project Description:

Children’s Day Preschool & Family Center (CDP) will provide targeted early intervention services to preschool children ages 2 1/2–5 yrs. in Passaic, New Jersey, who are experiencing developmental delays in language, motor skills, and social-emotional functioning. Project Title: Youth Development and Wellbeing through Accessibility to Performing Arts Participation
Project Description:

North Texas Performing Arts vision is to light the passion of the performing arts for our youth and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the benefits of programming that promotes arts accessibility and inclusion. We offer productions, classes, camps, and workshops 52 weeks per year for stage and screen, and make these programs accessible to underserved and disabled communities.

With funding of performing arts budgets being drastically cut or even removed in many public schools, NTPA offers a solution and opportunity, where school fine arts programming falls short. Our focus is to provide proven immeasurable benefits of the arts in youth development, achievement and leadership.

2 minute overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uMf5hhoR3s&t=2s

NTPA’s educational philosophy is based on our "Ten Characters": Teamwork, Leadership, Responsibility, Respect, Self-Confidence, Integrity, Discipline, Gratitude, Positive Attitude, and to Love One Another. We infuse those principles into everything we do and combine these with life lessons taught through literature, music, and dance.

Studies find that theatre has significant benefits to mental health. Social isolation and disconnection due to digital life have changed the human experience. NTPA productions, classes, and camps foster a sense of belonging, acceptance and self-expression. The opportunity to play a role and step into a character’s shoes, increases empathy, understanding of other life experiences and new perspectives. Performing requires dedication and focus on connection, and allows our students to immerse themselves in the creation of community.

Our priority is to provide a platform, accessible to EVERYONE, within the safe space of our theatres to empower youth to find their voice, take pride in who they are, celebrate diverse experiences, support wellbeing, foster emotional intelligence and social health, improve academic achievement and to become the community engaged leaders of our future.

We give over $400,000 in scholarships each year to assist anyone facing socio economic challenges and fill the gap of equity in arts accessibility and no one is ever turned away from the benefits of our programming due to financial constraints.
