Project Title: Youth Development and Wellbeing through Accessibility to Performing Arts Participation
Project Description:
North Texas Performing Arts vision is to light the passion of the performing arts for our youth and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the benefits of programming that promotes arts accessibility and inclusion. We offer productions, classes, camps, and workshops 52 weeks per year for stage and screen, and make these programs accessible to underserved and disabled communities.
With funding of performing arts budgets being drastically cut or even removed in many public schools, NTPA offers a solution and opportunity, where school fine arts programming falls short. Our focus is to provide proven immeasurable benefits of the arts in youth development, achievement and leadership.

NTPA’s educational philosophy is based on our "Ten Characters": Teamwork, Leadership, Responsibility, Respect, Self-Confidence, Integrity, Discipline, Gratitude, Positive Attitude, and to Love One Another. We infuse those principles into everything we do and combine these with life lessons taught through literature, music, and dance.
Studies find that theatre has significant benefits to mental health. Social isolation and disconnection due to digital life have changed the human experience. NTPA productions, classes, and camps foster a sense of belonging, acceptance and self-expression. The opportunity to play a role and step into a character’s shoes, increases empathy, understanding of other life experiences and new perspectives. Performing requires dedication and focus on connection, and allows our students to immerse themselves in the creation of community.
Our priority is to provide a platform, accessible to EVERYONE, within the safe space of our theatres to empower youth to find their voice, take pride in who they are, celebrate diverse experiences, support wellbeing, foster emotional intelligence and social health, improve academic achievement and to become the community engaged leaders of our future.
We give over $400,000 in scholarships each year to assist anyone facing socio economic challenges and fill the gap of equity in arts accessibility and no one is ever turned away from the benefits of our programming due to financial constraints.
