Project Description:
We are a K-12 independent school in Louisville, KY serving children who learn differently. The mission of Summit Academy of Greater Louisville is to provide a transformative educational experience for students who learn differently by cultivating each student’s academic, social, and emotional success in a vibrant and compassionate environment.
Due to widespread confusion and stigma about their abilities, students with learning differences are often misunderstood by the greater community. They are unfairly judged, stereotyped, and bullied, which often leads to anxiety and low self-esteem. In reality, these students can achieve at extremely high levels when given effective instruction and proper tools. Their brains simply receive and process information differently. Approximately 20% of children in the U.S. have a learning or attention issue. Each year we serve 120+ students who learn differently in grades PK-12.
33% of students with an ADHD diagnosis do not receive school-based help
Only 30% of general educators feel strongly that they can successfully teach students who learn differently, yet the majority of these students are in a general education setting 80% of their day
Summit Academy is accredited by the Kentucky Department of Education, and governed by all policies and procedures applicable to a certified, non-public school in the state of Kentucky.
Summit is also fully accredited by, and a member of, the Independent School Association of the Central States (ISACS) and the Kentucky Association for Independent Schools (KAIS)
