Project Title: 2026 K-12 Academic and Mentoring Support
Project Description:

Our program is dedicated to nurturing scholars academically and socially from their earliest years through high school graduation. With 24 years of educational experience, I have seen firsthand the transformative power of timely intervention and relationship-based support.

Using Sage Pathways’ proven framework, we pair each scholar with a mentor who provides ongoing, personalized guidance. Our comprehensive approach begins with a 6-week summer enrichment program for incoming kindergarteners, focusing on phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words, numeracy, and social skills. This early intervention helps scholars build a strong foundation as they enter school.

We offer year-round tutoring and mentoring for K–12 scholars in English Language Arts (ELA) and math, ensuring continuous academic growth and social-emotional development. Through a combination of individualized and small-group instruction, ongoing assessment, and family engagement, scholars receive targeted support designed to close learning gaps, strengthen foundational skills, and foster confidence. Mentors not only help scholars master core subjects but also encourage resilience, self-advocacy, and a sense of belonging—key factors in academic and personal success.

Our ultimate goal is to help each scholar thrive at every stage of their educational journey. By investing in both academic skills and social-emotional wellness, and by supporting families as partners, we are working to build a brighter, more equitable future for our community—one scholar at a time.

Project Title: Guiding our Young Queens to Their Throne
Project Description:

Project Description – Guiding Young Queens to Their Throne

Guiding Young Queens to Their Throne is a structured leadership and mentorship initiative serving girls ages 7–19 in New York City and Northern Virginia. The program provides consistent, year-round access to mentorship, academic support, wellness programming, financial literacy, and career exploration for girls from underserved communities who face economic and social barriers to opportunity.

Participants engage in weekly mentorship circles, goal-setting workshops, college and career exposure visits, community service projects, and social-emotional development sessions. Each participant develops an individualized growth plan focused on academic progress, leadership development, and life skills acquisition.

Our measurable objectives include:

• 85% of participants maintaining or improving academic performance

• 90% demonstrating increased leadership confidence and public speaking skills

• 75% completing financial literacy and workforce readiness workshops

• 100% participating in structured community service initiatives

Programming is delivered during after-school hours, weekends, and high-risk periods such as school breaks and summer months times when youth are most vulnerable to disengagement. By providing safe, structured, and empowering environments, we reduce risk factors while increasing protective factors such as mentorship access, peer accountability, and positive female leadership representation.

Through partnerships with schools, community centers, and local professionals in both New York City and Northern Virginia, the program creates consistent pathways toward high school completion, college enrollment, entrepreneurship, and career readiness.

Our mission is to equip young girls with the confidence, discipline, and leadership skills necessary to thrive academically and socially ensuring they do not just survive their circumstances, but rise to lead within their communities.

Project Title: YOUTH FINANCIAL WELLNESS EDUCATION AND MENTORING
Project Description:

Your Money Matters Mentoring’s Financial Wellness 4-Pillars initiative is a comprehensive, trauma-informed model designed to move economically vulnerable youth and young adults toward long-term financial stability and economic mobility . The program recognizes that financial progress cannot occur in isolation; young people must be financially educated, emotionally supported, workforce prepared, and grounded in basic stability to build sustainable futures. At the core of this initiative is the 24-Week Money Mindshift Academy, a structured financial literacy and money management program delivered in three eight-week phases. Participants receive education in budgeting, credit, banking, debt management, savings, and wealth-building, paired with consistent one-on-one and group mentoring. Students also engage in financial institution tours and receive hands-on support opening bank accounts, establishing credit, and accessing tools that promote financial independence . To ensure participants can fully engage, the Basic Needs component connects youth to housing and food resources, provides hygiene essentials, distributes school supplies and technology, and offers attendance-based incentives that reduce financial barriers to participation .

The Workforce Development pillar exposes students to diverse career pathways through industry speakers, business tours, resume development, and digital literacy training, strengthening both confidence and employability .

Finally, Trauma Care & Support integrates life coaching, mental health referrals, and social-emotional development to address the psychological barriers associated with poverty and financial instability . Together, these four interconnected pillars create a holistic pathway that equips youth not only with financial knowledge, but with the stability, skills, and healing necessary to achieve lasting economic mobility.

Project Title: Little Island STEM Explorers
Project Description:

Little Island STEM Explorers is an early childhood STEM enrichment program serving 42 children ages 1–6 at Leap and Learn Academy in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. In a small island community where enrichment resources are limited, this initiative will transform a classroom space into a vibrant hub of discovery where young children experiment, build, test, and explore.

Imagine toddlers investigating how water flows through channels, preschoolers designing simple structures that must stand against a fan’s “wind,” and five-year-olds guiding beginner robots across coding mats. Through weekly structured STEM sessions, children will engage in hands-on engineering challenges, sensory-based science exploration, early robotics, and collaborative problem-solving activities designed specifically for early learners.

Many of the families we serve face economic and geographic barriers that limit access to specialized STEM programs commonly available in larger metropolitan areas. Little Island STEM Explorers will provide equitable access to high-quality early innovation experiences during the most critical years of brain development, when curiosity is natural and foundational skills are formed.

Grant funds will support the purchase of developmentally appropriate STEM equipment, beginner robotics tools, science exploration stations, classroom materials, and professional development for teachers to ensure consistent implementation. Over the one-year grant period, 100% of enrolled students will participate in weekly STEM experiences. Student growth will be measured through observational assessments documenting increased problem-solving abilities, STEM vocabulary, persistence, and cooperative engagement. Two family STEM engagement events will extend exploration beyond the classroom.

Little Island STEM Explorers will ignite curiosity early, strengthen foundational skills, and expand opportunity for young learners in our island community.

Project Title: Life Transformation Program: Streets to Stability
Project Description:

Neighborhood Hope Dealers, Inc. dba Hope House Guthrie respectfully requests $10,000 in general operating support for our Life Transformation Program: Streets to Stability.

Since 2020, we have provided safe, trauma-informed housing and comprehensive recovery support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and crisis. What began with $80 and a commitment to feed the hungry has grown into a structured 12–18 month residential continuum of care serving more than 900 individuals across multiple Oklahoma counties.

Participants receive stable housing, three daily meals, peer recovery support, mental wellness education, workforce readiness assistance, and life-skills development within a structured and accountable environment. Our lived-experience leadership model strengthens trust and engagement, as many staff members are program graduates who now serve as certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists and Behavioral Health Wellness Coaches.

We address not only housing instability, but also the underlying causes of homelessness, including trauma, untreated mental health challenges, substance use recovery, and lack of economic opportunity. Through strong partnerships and careful fiscal stewardship, 95 percent of our budget is directed toward program services.

General operating support from the Hermanowski Family Foundation will help sustain daily housing, food, and supportive services that allow individuals and families to stabilize, rebuild, and transition toward long-term self-sufficiency.
