Project Title: Youth Pathways to Education, Work, and Stability
Project Description:

Beat the Streets, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Smart Tech Community Resource Center in Antioch, California that provides free educational, vocational, and life skills services to at-risk, low-income youth and young adults ages 11–29 in East Contra Costa County. We are seeking support for our Youth Pathways to Education, Work, and Stability project, which helps young people who are out of school, unemployed, justice-involved, in foster care, or unstably housed to complete their education and transition into living‑wage employment.

The project offers three integrated service areas: 1) educational support, including tutoring, high school equivalency (GED/HiSET) preparation, digital literacy, and homework help; 2) workforce development, including job readiness workshops, resume and interview coaching, job search assistance, and connections to local employers and apprenticeships; and 3) life skills and stability services, including financial literacy, housing navigation, basic‑needs support, and individualized case management.

A $10,000 grant will be used entirely for direct program costs: part‑time instructional hours, youth stipends and transportation assistance, educational and life‑skills materials, and basic‑needs support such as snacks, hygiene items, and school supplies. This support will enable approximately 60 unduplicated youth to participate consistently in tutoring, job readiness training, and life‑skills workshops over 9–12 months. The majority of participants are Black, Latino, and multiracial youth from households below 200% of the federal poverty level. Anticipated outcomes include increased literacy and numeracy skills, GED/HiSET attainment, entry‑level job placements, and improved stability and confidence to pursue long‑term education and career goals.

Total Project Budget: $60,000
