Project Title: Student Career Readiness and Advancement Initiative
Project Description:
The Student Career Readiness and Advancement Initiative is a comprehensive program serving high school seniors and college students across North Texas. The initiative equips students with the tools, preparation, and professional exposure necessary to successfully transition from education into sustainable career pathways in accounting, finance, and business.
Many students across North Texas lack early access to professional networks, structured guidance, and exposure to industry expectations. While DFW-ABA was founded to address gaps impacting underrepresented students, all student programs are open to any high school or college student seeking structured career preparation and mentorship.
Through a structured February–October 2027 program cycle, students will participate in college and career readiness cohorts, mentorship programming, on-campus engagement sessions, and the annual Student Symposium. Programming includes resume development, interview preparation, professional communication skills, networking strategies, financial literacy, and direct employer engagement. Students will also have their resumed include in a curated Resume Book shared with corporate partners to increase internship and employment visibility.
Funding from the Hermanowski Family Foundation will support curriculum materials, student participation access, workshop facilitation, mentorship coordination, speaker acquisition, technical support, and resume book development. Approximately 150–200 students will be served during the 2027 cycle.
Outcomes will include increased career readiness confidence, measurable skill development through pre- and post-program surveys, expanded professional networks, and documented employer engagement touchpoints. At least 75 percent of participating students are expected to report improved preparedness for internships or full-time employment.
All funds will be fully utilized during the grant period. A comprehensive evaluation report detailing participation metrics and outcomes will be submitted upon project completion.
