Project Title: Access Art Scholarship
Project Description:

Access Art is dedicated to removing barriers that prevent youth and individuals from participating in creative expression opportunities. Through scholarship support, community partnerships, and access to quality arts education, we aim to foster confidence, creativity, and opportunity for those who may otherwise be unable to afford participation in the arts.
We have seen the powerful impact that access to creative education can have on personal growth and community connection. Our proposal requests $5,000 to support the Access Scholarship program, which will provide financial assistance to 3–6 recipients each month over a period of 6 months. Scholarship funding will help cover participation in creative arts opportunities such as art classes, music lessons, dance instruction, and other artistic enrichment programs.

Project Title: Music Access
Project Description:

Metropolitan Youth Symphony (MYS) believes every child deserves access to the transformative power of music β€” regardless of background, zip code, or financial means.

At the heart of our work is the Music Access Program (MAP), a pathway designed to open doors for children who might otherwise never have the opportunity to play. MAP provides two full years of free Beginning Strings instruction β€” both group classes and one-on-one lessons β€” preparing young musicians to join an MYS ensemble. From there, students receive continued private lesson support, small group coaching, tuition assistance, and instrument loans. We also bring live concerts directly into Title 1 schools across the region, reaching thousands of students who may be experiencing orchestral music for the very first time.

Our students reflect the community we serve. The majority of MAP participants are Hispanic or students of color, and we are proud that our broader Ensemble Program β€” spanning 14 orchestral, jazz, wind, and string ensembles β€” mirrors that same diversity. Over 60% of our ensemble students identify as students of color, a reflection of our intentional commitment to inclusion.

Beyond access, MYS offers a rigorous, joyful musical environment where young people grow as artists and as people. Students rehearse weekly, perform regularly, and collaborate with professional artists and organizations throughout the region. Our Music Director programs repertoire that spans the classical canon, contemporary works, and music by underrepresented composers β€” ensuring every student sees themselves in the music they play.

MAP isn’t a side program β€” it’s our promise. It is how MYS ensures that talent, not circumstance, determines who gets to make music.

Project Title: Healing Futures: Trauma-Informed Counseling Access for Vulnerable Youth
Project Description:

A&E Christian Counseling Foundation is requesting funding to provide trauma-informed counseling services and emotional wellness support for vulnerable youth and young adults ages 12–21 across the United States. Many of the youth served by our organization have experienced foster care involvement, family instability, trauma exposure, anxiety, depression, grief, abuse, neglect, or significant life disruptions. Financial barriers often prevent these individuals from accessing consistent mental health support during critical developmental years.
Grant funding will be used to provide free and reduced-cost virtual counseling sessions, emotional wellness resources, therapeutic support materials, and trauma-informed interventions designed to help youth develop healthy coping skills, emotional regulation, resilience, and long-term stability. Services will prioritize underserved and low-income youth who would otherwise be unable to access counseling support.
The project will operate over a twelve-month period and aims to increase counseling accessibility while reducing financial barriers to care. Anticipated outcomes include increased access to consistent mental health support, improved emotional wellness, development of coping skills, and increased stability for participating youth and young adults.
A&E Christian Counseling Foundation combines trauma-informed care with lived experience and a deep understanding of the unique challenges vulnerable youth face. The organization is committed to creating accessible pathways to healing and emotional support for underserved children, adolescents, and young adults.

Project Title: AIS – PREP STEM PROGRAM
Project Description:

Project Description

American Indian Services (AIS) respectfully requests support for AIS PREP, a rigorous STEM preparation program designed to help American Indian and Alaska Native middle school students build the academic foundation, confidence, and career awareness needed to pursue advanced high school coursework, college degrees, and future careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

AIS PREP serves students through a structured three-year curriculum that begins with current sixth-grade students and continues through returning Year 2 and Year 3 participants. The curriculum is designed to prepare and encourage young students to pursue academic degrees and professional careers in STEM. Year 1 includes Logic, Problem Solving I, and Engineering. Year 2 includes Problem Solving II, Physics, and Algebraic Structures. Year 3 includes Technical Writing, Probability and Statistics, and Computer Science. All students participate in daily career speaker presentations, weekly field trips, life skills instruction, hands-on projects, and challenging homework.

The program is needed because many Native students have limited early access to advanced STEM coursework, university-based lab experiences, Native STEM educators, and career pathway exposure. AIS PREP addresses this gap by providing an academically demanding and culturally responsive learning environment that strengthens problem-solving, critical thinking, and college readiness.

AIS PREP is delivered by qualified American Indian and Alaska Native educators with STEM backgrounds. When available, labs and learning activities are held in university settings, giving students direct exposure to higher education environments and applied STEM resources. Parent and community engagement is built into the program through kickoff meetings that explain expectations and help families support student success.

Funding from the Hermanoski Foundation would help support curriculum materials, hands-on project supplies, field trips, career speakers, qualified STEM instruction, and program coordination, allowing AIS to strengthen the Native STEM pipeline and prepare more students for long-term educational and career success.

Project Title: CAPACITY BUILDING FOR UNDERSERVED CHILDREN WITH TICK BORNE INDUCED PANS & PANDAS
Project Description:

We founded Heal On Earth, Child to meet the advocacy and healthcare access needs of families affected by pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANS) with a special interest in congenital tick borne pathogens and infections (i.e., lyme, bartonella, babesia, strep, mycoplasma, & covid). This syndrome includes multiple post-infectious pediatric diseases that are each rare by themselves but together represent a growing problem affecting many. PANS is an underrecognized and misunderstood condition. Due to evolving diagnostic criteria and a lack of awareness among healthcare providers, many children go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, delaying critical treatment. Without proper intervention, these children experience worsening psychiatric and neurological symptoms, leading to unnecessary hospitalizations, school disruptions, and long-term disability. The lack of standardized diagnostic protocols and insurance coverage further compounds the crisis, leaving families without access to necessary care and forcing many to pay out of pocket for treatments that should be a healthcare right, not a privilege.

For affected children and families, PANS can be devastating. Previously healthy children who may have experienced a recent common infection, such as lyme, bartonella, mycoplasma, covid, strep throat or a fever of unknown cause, suddenly develop severe psychiatric symptoms. Almost all have a dramatic onset of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) or severely restricted food intake. Additional symptoms include aggressive behavior, severe irritability and mood swings, depression, and hallucinations. Children may lose abilities they once had, have deteriorating school performance, and become more sensitive to light, sound, touch, taste, and smell. Tourette syndrome-like tics and vocalizations and other speech problems occur, and sleep disturbances and new-onset bed wetting are also common. In short, a child who was doing well and developing normally suddenly develops severe mental health issues that make them seem like a different child altogetherβ€”one who often is no longer able to do things that they once achieved.
We envision a world without PANS, yet know this will take time, resources, advocacy, and research. To build capacity for advocacy and research, families and patients need a supportive community, which is the overall goal and expected outcome of the work described here. With funding, we will build a more robust website, create outreach, increase awareness of PANS, train members to participate in advocacy, provide medical scholarships for historically marginalized communities and for populations that have been adversely affected by socioeconomic inequities, and help people affected by PANS become active in advocacy to improve healthcare outcomes and fuel research. We welcome the opportunity to further discuss how this funding can catalyze systemic change for children with PANS with a special interest in congenital tick borne pathogens, health equity, and equal opportunity for all children to access appropriate medical care. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Today’s Date: May 13 2026

Project Title:
Project Description:

On behalf of Arching Oaks Japanese Arts & Culture Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Eustis, Florida, I respectfully submit this Letter of Inquiry requesting $9,500 in support of our proposed youth education project, β€œYoung Guardians of Culture: Japanese Arts, Discipline, and Character Education for Youth.”

Arching Oaks exists to preserve, practice, and share Japanese arts and culture with the broader community. Through our affiliated Florida Budokan programs, we provide instruction in Japanese cultural and martial traditions, including karate, kyudo, iaido, calligraphy, etiquette, and cultural history. Our work gives children and young adults meaningful access to arts education, discipline, mentorship, and cross-cultural understanding.

This project will serve youth ages 10–21 through a year-long series of classes, workshops, demonstrations, and educational activities focused on Japanese traditional arts and character development. Participants will learn not only physical and artistic skills, but also values such as respect, patience, perseverance, humility, responsibility, and service. Programming will include introductory Japanese arts workshops, youth cultural education days, mentorship opportunities with instructors, and accessible learning materials for families and students.

The need for this program is clear. Many young people today face social isolation, reduced attention spans, limited access to cultural education, and fewer structured environments where discipline, respect, and community responsibility are consistently reinforced. Japanese traditional arts offer a powerful educational framework for helping youth build confidence, self-control, cultural literacy, and positive relationships with peers and mentors.

Grant funds would support instructor time, youth scholarships, educational materials, supplies, equipment, outreach, and program documentation. We will evaluate success through participation numbers, student retention, parent feedback, instructor observations, and documented youth outcomes.

We would be honored to be considered for support and would gladly provide any additional information requested.
