Project Title: Miss Lila’s House Inc
Project Description:

Miss Lila’s House Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking generational cycles of homelessness and financial instability across Southeast Texas. Founded in 2022, the organization provides direct assistance, essential resources, and compassionate support to individuals and families facing housing insecurity, poverty, and crisis situations. With more than 370 residents served through 13 rapidly growing community programs, Miss Lila’s House focuses on meeting both immediate needs and long‑term stability goals.
The core project supports vulnerable households by providing utility assistance, crisis food boxes, hygiene kits, mobility aids for seniors and disabled individuals, transportation support, and emergency household supplies. These services address urgent barriers that frequently lead to homelessness or prevent individuals from regaining stability. Many clients include seniors living on fixed incomes, U.S. veterans, single parents, and individuals facing unemployment, chronic illness, or domestic violence.
Beyond meeting basic needs, Miss Lila’s House offers empowerment‑focused services such as job‑readiness assistance, resume support, community referrals, and connections to mental health and social service partners. By collaborating with local agencies, churches, and community organizations, the project ensures that each client receives holistic care designed to strengthen their long‑term resilience.
The program emphasizes equity, serving high‑need populations disproportionately affected by poverty in Jefferson and Hardin Counties. Many clients live below the federal poverty line, lack reliable transportation, or experience food insecurity. Miss Lila’s House intentionally focuses on communities where assistance gaps are greatest, ensuring resources reach underserved and overlooked individuals.
The project’s overarching goal is to stabilize households in crisis, reduce repeated cycles of emergency hardship, and help families move toward independence. Through comprehensive support, compassionate service delivery, and strong community partnerships, Miss Lila’s House Inc. provides a reliable lifeline for Southeast Texans who have nowhere else to turn.

Total Project Budget: 100,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Miss Lila’s House Inc. sustains its community programs through a diverse mix of funding streams designed to ensure long‑term stability and responsible stewardship. The organization relies primarily on individual donations from local residents, small community fundraisers, and contributions from faith‑based partners. These grassroots efforts provide steady support for essential services such as food boxes, hygiene kits, and emergency household items. In addition to community giving, Miss Lila’s House receives in‑kind donations from local businesses, including food, toiletries, mobility equipment, cleaning supplies, and seasonal items for seniors and families. Partnerships with churches, civic groups, and service organizations also contribute volunteer hours, materials, and program assistance. Miss Lila’s House periodically applies for small community grants from regional foundations, corporate giving programs, and local retailers. Previous support has included charitable contributions from businesses in Jefferson and Hardin Counties, as well as limited event-based sponsorships. These grants help supplement operational needs and expand outreach efforts. The organization also benefits from fundraising events, including back‑to‑school drives, holiday outreach campaigns, and community service days, which help generate additional revenue and attract new donors. Miss Lila’s House continues to expand its funding base by building relationships with corporate partners, strengthening grant writing efforts, and increasing visibility within the Southeast Texas nonprofit community. This blended approach ensures that services remain accessible to vulnerable individuals and families while supporting responsible growth and program sustainability.

Project Duration: The project operates on a 12‑month cycle, running continuously throughout the year to meet the ongoing needs of vulnerable individuals and families in Southeast Texas. Miss Lila’s House Inc. delivers services year‑round, and the requested funding will support program activities, direct assistance, and community outreach over the full one‑year project period. Because the organization provides essential services such as food assistance, hygiene support, mobility aids, and crisis intervention, the project is designed to remain active without interruption, ensuring consistent access for households experiencing hardship.
Geographical Area Served: Miss Lila’s House Inc. serves vulnerable individuals and families across Southeast Texas, with primary service coverage in Jefferson County and Hardin County. These counties include communities with some of the highest needs in the region, marked by elevated poverty rates, limited access to transportation, and persistent housing instability. Core service areas include Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nederland, Groves, Port Neches, Silsbee, Lumberton, Kountze, and surrounding rural communities. The organization also provides limited outreach to neighboring counties based on resource availability and community demand. Support is focused on households experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, food insecurity, or urgent crises requiring immediate assistance. Miss Lila’s House prioritizes communities where gaps in services are significant and where families face barriers that prevent access to traditional support systems. By concentrating efforts in these underserved Southeast Texas areas, the organization ensures resources reach populations with the greatest need.

Proposal Information

Today’s Date: 3/3/2026
Requested Amount: $10,000

Project Title: The Youth Wellness and Sustainability Initiative
Project Description:

The Youth Wellness and Sustainability Initiative is a Movespot program designed to promote mental health, physical wellness, and environmental awareness among youth through immersive learning and community engagement. The initiative provides high school students with opportunities to participate in structured physical activities, mindfulness exercises, and tree planting projects that strengthen personal well-being and foster environmental stewardship.

Movespot’s work has been recognized and supported through a community partnership with Emory University’s Climate and Health Actionable Research and Translation Center (CHART), where Movespot was selected as a 2025-2026 CHART Community Grant partner to expand youth climate and health engagement programming. You can view the community grantees announcement here: CHART CEC announces 2025‑2026 community grantees

Founded by former all region athlete Carl White III, Movespot was created to connect fitness, mental health, and social engagement to deepen community connection. Through this initiative, students build healthy habits, confidence, and teamwork skills while learning the importance of environmental sustainability and resilience.

Each field day includes wellbeing activities, reflective learning, and climate education workshops led by wellness professionals and educators. Movespot is uniquely positioned to serve students in underserved communities, particularly in Georgia, where access to wellness and mental health resources is limited.

With support from The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation, Movespot will expand the program to serve over 300 youth in the next year. The requested amount of $10,000 dollars will be used for event coordination, supplies for tree planting and wellness kits, student transportation, and impact reporting.

By combining movement, mindfulness, and environmental learning, The Youth Wellness and Sustainability Initiative empowers young people to develop lifelong resilience, self awareness, and leadership skills while strengthening their connection to community and the environment.

Total Project Budget: $12,500

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): The Youth Wellness and Sustainability Initiative is supported by several committed and potential funding sources. Currently, Movespot provides in-kind contributions including staff time, volunteer support, and program resources to plan and execute field day events. Additionally, Movespot has secured support through the Emory University CHART Community Grant, which funds curriculum development, environmental education materials, and program evaluation for the 2025‑2026 cycle (link ). Potential sources of funding include the requested support from The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation to expand the program, purchase supplies, and support student participation. Additional opportunities may come from corporate and community sponsors who can provide materials, funding, or volunteers, as well as other grants focused on youth wellness, mental health, physical activity, and environmental education. Collectively, these resources will ensure the program’s sustainability, growth, and meaningful impact on the students and communities served.

Project Duration: The Youth Wellness and Sustainability Initiative will run for 12 months, beginning in June 2026 and concluding in May 2027. During this period, Movespot will conduct multiple field day events for high school students, implement wellness and environmental education activities, track program outcomes, and produce a final impact report. This timeframe allows for careful planning, implementation across multiple school partners, and evaluation of the program’s effectiveness in promoting youth wellness, community engagement, and environmental awareness.
Geographical Area Served: The Youth Wellness and Sustainability Initiative primarily serves high school students in Georgia, with a focus on underserved communities and schools with limited access to wellness and environmental education resources. The program will initially operate in the Atlanta metropolitan area and surrounding counties, providing students with hands-on opportunities for physical activity, mental wellness, and environmental learning. As Movespot expands the initiative, we plan to extend outreach to additional communities in Georgia, ensuring that more youth can benefit from the program’s combined focus on wellness, leadership, and sustainability.
Age Group To Be Served: The Youth Wellness and Sustainability Initiative will serve students ages 14 to 18, primarily targeting high school youth. This age group is ideal for promoting healthy physical activity, mental wellness, social-emotional learning, and environmental stewardship. The program is designed to equip students with practical tools, leadership skills, and sustainable habits that can positively impact their personal development and community engagement.

Project Title: The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative
Project Description:

Girls Aiming Towards Positivity (GAPT) proposes The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative, a one-year youth development project designed to strengthen leadership skills, self-respect, and community engagement among girls in grades 4–11 in South Atlanta. This initiative builds directly from GAPT’s Weekly Mentoring Program, Cupcakes and Conversations events, and one-week Girls Mentoring Summer Camp, which together have served more than 300 girls.

Through weekly mentoring sessions for girls in grades 8–11, participants will engage in structured workshops focused on confidence-building, public speaking, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and positive decision making. These sessions reinforce core values of positivity, accountability, and leadership while equipping girls with practical life skills they can apply in school and beyond.

Quarterly Cupcakes and Conversations gatherings will extend the impact to girls in 4th grade and up, creating welcoming spaces for positive discussions, peer connection, and community building. These events foster healthy relationships, strengthen communication skills, and introduce younger participants to leadership principles in an age-appropriate way.

During the summer, selected participants will attend the Girls Mentoring Summer Camp, where they will deepen their skills through team-building exercises, communication labs, dance and creative expression, and entrepreneurship challenges. Camp activities culminate in presentations that allow girls to confidently share their voices and ideas with peers and family members.

The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative provides consistent, year round support that encourages girls to grow in confidence, practice leadership, and remain grounded in self-respect. Grant funding will support curriculum materials, workshop supplies, facilitator stipends, camp resources, and program evaluation to ensure meaningful and measurable impact within one year.

Total Project Budget: The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): GAPT has secured $900 in committed funding through a Walmart Community Grant. In addition, we have received approximately $16,000 in support from 1-800 Truck Wreck, a local Atlanta-based law firm and community partner.

Project Duration: The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative is a one-year program. All activities, including weekly mentoring sessions, quarterly Cupcakes and Conversations events, and the one-week Girls Mentoring Camp, will take place within a single 12-month period, ensuring that grant funds are fully utilized to achieve measurable outcomes for participants within the project year.

Project Title: Champion’s Pursuit
Project Description:

The Jacksonville Sports Foundation will implement Champion’s Pursuit, a structured youth development program serving middle and high school students in 2026. Operating from March through November, the initiative will use three premier sporting events as anchor experiential learning opportunities within a broader education and workforce readiness framework.

The program will engage a cohort of Duval County youth, with intentional outreach to underserved communities. Participants will take part in educational workshops and immersive experiences that combine live sporting environments with structured instruction in financial literacy, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) education, leadership development, character building, and career exposure within the sports industry. Each anchor event will include facilitated clinics, industry panels, and behind-the-scenes learning sessions
designed to introduce students to diverse career pathways such as event operations, sports marketing, communications, entrepreneurship, and collegiate athletics administration.

Programming will also emphasize expanded opportunities for girls in sports and equitable access to leadership pathways. Participants will receive structured mentorship, career pathway guidance, and college and workforce readiness support during the fall to reinforce key concepts and support continued academic and professional exploration.
