Project Title: The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative
Project Description:

Girls Aiming Towards Positivity (GAPT) proposes The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative, a one-year youth development project designed to strengthen leadership skills, self-respect, and community engagement among girls in grades 4–11 in South Atlanta. This initiative builds directly from GAPT’s Weekly Mentoring Program, Cupcakes and Conversations events, and one-week Girls Mentoring Summer Camp, which together have served more than 300 girls.

Through weekly mentoring sessions for girls in grades 8–11, participants will engage in structured workshops focused on confidence-building, public speaking, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and positive decision making. These sessions reinforce core values of positivity, accountability, and leadership while equipping girls with practical life skills they can apply in school and beyond.

Quarterly Cupcakes and Conversations gatherings will extend the impact to girls in 4th grade and up, creating welcoming spaces for positive discussions, peer connection, and community building. These events foster healthy relationships, strengthen communication skills, and introduce younger participants to leadership principles in an age-appropriate way.

During the summer, selected participants will attend the Girls Mentoring Summer Camp, where they will deepen their skills through team-building exercises, communication labs, dance and creative expression, and entrepreneurship challenges. Camp activities culminate in presentations that allow girls to confidently share their voices and ideas with peers and family members.

The Positivity to Power Leadership Initiative provides consistent, year round support that encourages girls to grow in confidence, practice leadership, and remain grounded in self-respect. Grant funding will support curriculum materials, workshop supplies, facilitator stipends, camp resources, and program evaluation to ensure meaningful and measurable impact within one year.
