Project Title: Nourish to Thrive: Youth Nutrition and Garden-Based Learning Initiative
Project Description:

Upstate Circle of Friends (UCF) seeks support to expand its youth nutrition and wellness programming serving children in Greenville County’s District 25, where over 70% of students in Title I schools qualify for free or reduced-price meals and many families live in federally designated food desert areas. For these children, consistent access to nutritious food remains a daily challenge, particularly outside of the school day.

Through UCF’s USDA Summer and Afterschool Feeding Programs, the organization provides thousands of meals annually to children at risk of hunger. This project builds on that foundation by integrating food access with hands-on education through UCF’s Urban Teaching Garden and whole-family support through its Wellness Hub.

Children participating in the program not only receive healthy meals, but also engage in garden-based learning where they grow, harvest, and taste fresh produce, building lifelong knowledge around nutrition and food systems. At the Wellness Hub, families are connected to health services, nutrition education, and supportive resources that address underlying barriers to stability.

Funding from the Hermanowski Family Foundation will support the expansion of meal service sites, increased access to fresh produce, and enhanced enrichment programming that promotes both physical health and academic engagement. The program will serve hundreds of children annually, with a focus on those living in high-poverty, underserved neighborhoods.

Founded in 2006, UCF has a proven track record of reaching vulnerable populations and delivering integrated services that address both immediate needs and long-term outcomes. By combining nutritious meals, experiential learning, and family-centered support, this initiative helps children build healthier futures while strengthening the communities in which they live.

Total Project Budget: $7,500

Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Upstate Circle of Friends leverages a combination of public and private funding to support youth nutrition and wellness programming. Project Title: Dayspring Literacy Corner: Expanding Access to Books for Middle School Students
Project Description:

Dayspring Academy is seeking support to establish the Dayspring Literacy Corner, a shared
reading space for approximately 300 students in grades 6-7. The Literacy Corner will transform a
central assembly area into an inviting reading hub with open bookshelves and a carefully selected
collection of engaging books. The collection will include high-interest fiction, STEM-related
nonfiction, and visually engaging books that encourage creativity and connect reading with
artistic expression.
Student input will play an important role in building the collection. Before selecting titles,
students will complete a brief reading interest survey to identify the genres, authors, and topics
they are most excited to explore. This ensures that the book collection reflects student interests
and encourages greater engagement with reading.
Located in a space students pass multiple times each day, the Literacy Corner will make books
highly visible and easily accessible, encouraging spontaneous reading, peer recommendations,
and informal reading groups. Teachers will also incorporate the space into independent reading

Today’s Date: 3/19/26
Requested Amount: $3,000

Project Title: Equitable Access to Virtual Music Education Concert
Project Description:

Classics 4 Kids is committed to transforming the lives of children ages 4-13 by providing equitable access to high-quality arts education that builds the skills, confidence, and cultural awareness needed to succeed.

In November 2025, we produced "One World, Many Songs", an educational orchestra concert at the Joan B. Kroc Theatre in San Diego, reaching 2,814 children (ages 4-13) —many from communities with limited access to arts learning opportunities.

Designed specifically for student audiences, this multicultural program used live music as a powerful tool to foster empathy, connection, and global understanding. Performed by professional musicians, the concert invited young people to explore diverse cultural traditions while highlighting shared human values such as cooperation, resilience, and belonging. Students actively participated in the performance, culminating in a communal vocal rendition of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy,” reinforcing the importance of collaboration and collective voice. A special collaboration with Sharon Katz & The Peace Train Band further deepened the impact, introducing students to South African music rooted in themes of kindness and reconciliation.

To expand access beyond a single event, Classics 4 Kids recorded the concert and will release it as a free, time-limited virtual program on YouTube for the span of 1 month. This digital distribution removes geographic and financial barriers, enabling educators nationwide—particularly in under-resourced schools—to integrate this enriching experience into their classrooms. With a proven track record of reaching over 25,000 students through past virtual concerts, this project ensures that even more young people can access transformative arts experiences.

By combining live performance, digital access, and culturally responsive programming, "One World, Many Songs" equips children with the tools to think critically, connect across differences, and realize their full potential in an increasingly interconnected world.

This grant is scalable. Funding will provide editing, distribution, licensing and marketing costs.

Requested Amount: $7,500

Project Title: Creative Career Exposure and Digital Design Training for Youth
Project Description:

BRIDGEGOOD respectfully requests $7,500 to support a one year youth project serving students ages 16 to 21 in Oakland, California. The project will provide tuition free digital design training, creative career exposure, portfolio building, and hands on learning for young people who are often underrepresented in design and technology.

BRIDGEGOOD was founded in 2009 and operates from Oakland. We help students and young adults build confidence, practical skills, and pathways to future education and employment. Our youth programming introduces students to design for social good, digital storytelling, creative problem solving, and career possibilities in design and technology. BRIDGEGOOD reaches 2,600 students annually and has served 36,000+ community members since 2009. Our work especially supports first generation college students and students from low income communities.

With support from the Hermanowski Family Foundation, BRIDGEGOOD will provide youth workshops, guided project based learning, career exposure activities, and coaching for students ages 16 to 21. Students will learn core design concepts, build creative work samples, and strengthen communication and collaboration skills in a safe and supportive environment. Funds will help cover instruction, program materials, student support, and facility related costs.

The purpose of this project is to give young people the tools, encouragement, and exposure they need to believe in their own potential and take meaningful next steps toward college, career training, and creative work. We expect to serve approximately 80 youth during the grant period.

Proposal Information

Today’s Date: 3/19/2026
Requested Amount: 5,000

Project Title: Helping Little Hands Do Big Things
Project Description:

Altru Health System serves a broad rural and frontier region where distance, workforce shortages, and limited local rehabilitation services create barriers—especially for children with complex needs. Many families travel long distances to reach Altru’s Outpatient Therapy Department (OTD), making each visit especially meaningful.
The OTD provides occupational, speech language, and physical therapy to a rapidly growing pediatric population with conditions such as cerebral palsy, brachial plexus and spinal cord injuries, CVAs, and various neurological or chromosomal disorders. Many of these children experience limited hand function and significant communication challenges, affecting their independence.

In 2025, the department completed 845 new Occupational Therapy evaluations and 195 new Speech-Language Pathology evaluations. Each week, approximately 318 children receive therapy services, many of whom experience limited grasp strength, poor fine motor control, atypical muscle tone, or expressive communication challenges that impact participation and progress.
While our current interventions are effective, they often require substantial hand over hand assistance, limiting opportunities for children to initiate and complete tasks on their own. Integrating adaptive therapy technology would reduce this dependence and create a more self directed experience. This grant seeks support to purchase a Guided Hands device, iPads, Apple Pencils, and evidence based Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)applications.
The Guided Hands device stabilizes the arm to enable smooth, controlled movement—allowing children to write, draw, point, and access AAC tools despite tremors, weakness, or limited range of motion. When paired with digital devices and AAC applications, it opens access to communication and therapeutic activities that would otherwise require significant physical support.
Based on current utilization, an estimated 25–40% of our pediatric patients—especially those with neurological conditions or limited expressive abilities—would directly benefit from this equipment. Integrating adaptive technology tools will ultimately advance our care by giving children the ability to “feel and do” for themselves.

Total Project Budget: 9750

Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Potential- Applied for a grant from Innovating Worthy Projects for $5,000- we are awaiting their grant announcements.

Project Duration: We will have the equipment purchased, staff trained, and fully implemented in our therapy for children within 6 months of grant award notice.

Proposal Information

Today’s Date: 03/19/2026
Requested Amount: 10000.00

Project Title: FPCE Homeless Prevention Program
Project Description:

Family Promise of the Coastal Empire’s Homelessness Prevention Program is designed to keep families with children safely housed by addressing financial crises before they result in eviction or homelessness. Through a combination of short-term financial assistance, individualized case management, and connections to community resources, the program stabilizes households facing unexpected hardships such as job loss, medical emergencies, or rising housing costs.

The impact of homelessness on children is both immediate and long-term. Children experiencing housing instability are more likely to face disruptions in education, increased absenteeism, and difficulty maintaining academic progress. Frequent moves or living in unsafe or overcrowded environments can contribute to emotional stress, anxiety, and behavioral challenges. Homelessness also affects a child’s physical health, as unstable living conditions can limit access to proper nutrition, sleep, and healthcare. Over time, these challenges can hinder a child’s development and reduce their ability to succeed in school and beyond.

By preventing homelessness, the program plays a critical role in protecting children from these adverse outcomes. Keeping families stably housed ensures that children can remain in their schools, maintain supportive relationships, and experience a sense of routine and security. This stability is essential for healthy development, academic success, and overall well-being.

During the reporting period, the program prevented 126 households from eviction or homelessness, far exceeding projected goals. Families also gained access to employment support, financial literacy education, and essential community resources, strengthening their ability to maintain long-term stability. By intervening early and providing targeted support, the Homelessness Prevention Program not only addresses immediate crises but also creates a foundation for children and families to thrive.
