Project Title: Creative Career Exposure and Digital Design Training for Youth
Project Description:

BRIDGEGOOD respectfully requests $7,500 to support a one year youth project serving students ages 16 to 21 in Oakland, California. The project will provide tuition free digital design training, creative career exposure, portfolio building, and hands on learning for young people who are often underrepresented in design and technology.

BRIDGEGOOD was founded in 2009 and operates from Oakland. We help students and young adults build confidence, practical skills, and pathways to future education and employment. Our youth programming introduces students to design for social good, digital storytelling, creative problem solving, and career possibilities in design and technology. BRIDGEGOOD reaches 2,600 students annually and has served 36,000+ community members since 2009. Our work especially supports first generation college students and students from low income communities.

With support from the Hermanowski Family Foundation, BRIDGEGOOD will provide youth workshops, guided project based learning, career exposure activities, and coaching for students ages 16 to 21. Students will learn core design concepts, build creative work samples, and strengthen communication and collaboration skills in a safe and supportive environment. Funds will help cover instruction, program materials, student support, and facility related costs.

The purpose of this project is to give young people the tools, encouragement, and exposure they need to believe in their own potential and take meaningful next steps toward college, career training, and creative work. We expect to serve approximately 80 youth during the grant period.
