Project Title: Future Business Leaders of Tomorrow
Project Description:

In the OECD’s latest PISA financial literacy results, 18% of 15 year old students do not have basic proficiency. That number represents more than a gap in knowledge. It is a countdown clock. It means thousands of young people are entering adulthood unable to confidently budget, compare choices, understand credit, or evaluate risk. When money decisions arrive fast, they are forced to learn through mistakes. Dreams get delayed, debt grows, and bright ideas never become businesses.
Boss Kidz Inc. is built to change that story. We work with youth and young adults ages 14 to 24 through creative, practical learning that makes business skills feel real, relevant, and achievable. We serve youth and young adults ages 14–24 across Georgia and Alabama, with strong ties to the Atlanta market. Last year we served over 6000 students. Our program, Future Business Leaders of Tomorrow, turns curiosity into capability. Students learn how to set up and run a business, then strengthen the engine that makes it last: branding, marketing, customer focus, and professional presentation. They practice how to communicate value, how to think strategically, and how to show up like leaders in rooms that can change their future.
Implementation will roll out in cohorts, combining weekly skill building workshops with guided work sessions where students develop a business plan and brand kit. Each cohort culminates in a pitch showcase evaluated by entrepreneurs and mentors. We will track attendance, pre and post skill growth, and completed deliverables to ensure measurable progress.

Project Title: Attendance Matters: Youth Truancy Intervention & Mentorship
Project Description:

Attendance Matters is a one-year targeted truancy intervention initiative serving middle and high school students in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana. The program will work with 20 chronically absent youth (missing 10% or more of school days) who are at risk of academic failure and long-term disengagement.

Through structured mentorship, family engagement sessions, and individualized attendance action plans, participants will receive consistent support to address barriers such as transportation challenges, low academic motivation, behavioral concerns, and family instability.

Each student will be paired with a trained mentor who will conduct weekly check-ins, monitor attendance data, and collaborate with parents and school personnel. Monthly parent engagement workshops will equip families with tools to reinforce accountability and academic success at home. Positive attendance incentives and recognition milestones will encourage sustained improvement.

By the end of the program year, Thoughts Before Actions expects to reduce chronic absenteeism among participants by at least 25%, improve academic performance, and increase family engagement in school-related activities.

Attendance Matters directly aligns with the Hermanowski Family Foundation’s mission to transform the lives of children and youth by strengthening educational stability, promoting personal responsibility, and supporting long-term student success.

Project Title: Support One, Empower Two – Education Access & Career Pathways Program
Project Description:

Global Bright Futures Foundation (GBFF) advances educational equity by expanding access to high-quality academic support while creating structured workforce pathways for youth and emerging professionals. Aligned with the Hermanowski Foundation’s commitment to strengthening communities through education, GBFF addresses two interconnected challenges: persistent academic achievement gaps among underserved students and limited career-entry opportunities for young adults.

Through its integrated initiative, Support One, Empower Two™, GBFF partners with schools serving low-income and under-resourced communities to deliver personalized tutoring in literacy, mathematics, and STEM, along with enrichment programming, mentorship, and supplemental learning resources. These services reinforce classroom instruction, strengthen foundational skills, and increase student confidence and school persistence.

Simultaneously, GBFF provides paid, supervised tutoring and mentorship roles for youth, college students, and recent graduates—particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. Participants receive structured training, professional supervision, and leadership development opportunities that build career readiness, transferable skills, and pathways into education and community-serving professions.

GBFF also utilizes a school-to-school partnership model that connects U.S.-based schools with partner schools abroad, expanding access to educational resources while fostering cross-cultural awareness and shared learning. This approach ensures that both domestic and international students benefit from structured academic reinforcement tailored to local needs.

By integrating academic intervention with workforce development, GBFF creates a sustainable, dual-impact model that improves measurable student outcomes while developing future educators and community leaders. This intergenerational approach strengthens communities by increasing educational access, promoting economic mobility, and building long-term local capacity.

Through strategic partnerships and scalable program design, GBFF seeks to expand opportunity, reduce educational disparities, and advance equitable pathways to success for students and young professionals alike.

Total Project Budget: 80000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Committed support includes board-contributed match funding (10–15%) aligned with GBFF’s tiered budget plan, in-kind professional volunteer hours, and administrative infrastructure support. The organization operates under a scalable funding model with tiered program budgets (e.g., $5000, $10000, $25,000, $50,000, and $75,000+ levels), allowing implementation to expand based on available funding while maintaining proportional allocation across direct services, program oversight, evaluation, and compliance. Potential sources include private family foundations aligned with educational equity, corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners focused on education and workforce development, individual donors, and competitive education-focused grants. Additional in-kind support may include technology platforms, curriculum resources, training tools, and professional development services. This diversified and tiered funding structure ensures financial stability, program scalability, and responsible stewardship of grant investments while maintaining required match commitments.

Project Duration: 12 months (with phased quarterly implementation, progress monitoring, and outcome evaluation).
Geographical Area Served: Primary service area: Underserved school communities within the United States (with priority given to low-income districts and under-resourced schools). Secondary service area: Partner schools in underserved international communities through structured school-to-school partnerships. The program operates primarily through an online delivery model, allowing equitable access across geographic boundaries.
Age Group To Be Served: Students: Kindergarten through Grade 12 (approximately ages 5–18), with a focus on elementary and middle school literacy and mathematics intervention. Workforce Participants: Youth, college students, and recent graduates (approximately ages 16–22) serving in supervised tutoring and mentorship roles.

Project Title: THE ENSEMBLE THEATRE’S YOUNG PERFORMERS PROGRAM
Project Description:

Founded in 1976, The Ensemble Theatre was built on a simple belief: stories matter, and communities deserve to see themselves reflected on stage. For nearly fifty years, we have produced professional theatre that centers excellence, access, and cultural truth. The Young Performers Program (YPP), established in 1985, carries that mission forward through the next generation.

YPP serves youth ages 6–17 through structured training in acting, voice, movement, and technical theatre. Each seasonal session—Spring Break, two Summer sessions, and Winter Break—culminates in a fully staged production inside our professional theatre. Students rehearse with rigor, work alongside experienced teaching artists, and perform for public audiences.

While The Ensemble Theatre has historic roots in amplifying African American voices, YPP welcomes and serves young people from across Houston’s diverse communities. There is no audition barrier. What we provide instead is expectation, discipline, mentorship, and a safe space to grow.

Many families come to us because arts education has disappeared from their child’s school or because private instruction is financially out of reach. Demand for tuition assistance continues to rise. No young person should be excluded from creative opportunity because of cost.

In 2027, we anticipate serving approximately 300 youth in our YPP program and expanding scholarship access to ensure participation reflects Houston’s communities.

Support from the Hermanowski Family Foundation will directly fund teaching artist compensation, production materials, and need-based tuition assistance.

When a young person stands on our stage, they are not simply performing. They are discovering confidence, collaboration, and the power of their own voice. That is the lasting impact of the Young Performers Program.

Project Title: aSTEAM Village Stadium Design Challenge
Project Description:

As the Kansas City region considers a new Chiefs stadium and other major capital projects, aSTEAM Village is leveraging this pivotal moment to transform how students experience learning. Rather than observing civic development from the sidelines, students engage directly through authentic, project-based learning tied to real-time regional investments.
The aSTEAM Village Brain Sports Gaming League (BSGL) Stadium Design, Finance, and Build Challenge is a bi-state, team-based learning experience that positions students as investigators, designers, and decision-makers. Using stadium development as a living case study, students explore how large-scale projects are planned, financed, designed, constructed, and operated.
Working in collaborative teams, participants apply mathematics, science, technology, civics, economics, and English language arts to solve complex, interdisciplinary problems. They analyze trade-offs, evaluate community and economic impact, and develop proposals that reflect real-world constraints and opportunities. Throughout the challenge, students strengthen research skills, systems thinking, communication, financial literacy, and collaborative decision-making—competencies essential for college, career, and civic life.
Stadium development uniquely integrates engineering and design, public finance, construction and skilled trades, civic leadership, and community impact. BSGL transforms this complexity into an accessible and engaging learning platform that connects classroom content to projects actively shaping the region’s future.
A $5,000 sponsorship directly supports up to 14 student teams (2–3 students per team), engaging as many as 42 middle and high school students in this immersive challenge. Through this investment, sponsors help cultivate a generation of informed, skilled, and civically engaged young leaders prepared to contribute meaningfully to the workforce and the communities they call home.
