FitMoney requests support of $10,000 for our financial literacy program for students K-12. Based in MA, FitMoney is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to bring free, unbiased financial literacy programs to all students through state-of-the-art digital and in-class curricula. By teaching financial literacy early when habits and behaviors are formed, we can build financially fit students, giving them tools for successful lives.

FitMoney has seen an unprecedented amount of growth in the last year, growing from 115,000 K-12 students nationally to more than 218,000 K-12 students (a 89% increase), who are empowered to build financially secure futures through:

$uperSquad (K-3): Digital game-based platform that makes financial literacy fun through interactive adventures.
Online Financially Fit Certificates (Grades 3-12): Offered in English and Spanish, students master financial skills at their own pace. Our Portuguese translation will be completed this year.
Instructor-Led Curriculum (K-12): This ready-to-use curriculum can be implemented into any K-12 classroom. The curriculum is aligned with Jump$tart standards and teaches critical skills for financial planning, credit management, and managing money in a digital age. Lessons are designed to be taught by teachers, with discussion guides for parents to continue support at home.

More than half of the schools we work with are low-to-moderate income area schools, as defined by Title I status. Given our values and vision for financial literacy for all, including serving as the only providers of financial literacy for elementary aged children, we pride ourselves in offering our premier financial literacy curricula for free.

Your support will allow FitMoney to reach more than 380,000 students this year by geotargeting new schools in low-income areas, while building out the internal capacity and resources we need to manage this rapid growth. Thank you for your consideration of our grant request.

Project Title: Ready, Set, Explore! ScoutReach Fee Help & Transport to Camp Tonkawa
Project Description:

ScoutReach embodies Texas Trails Council’s firm commitment that a child’s zip code, family income, or transportation challenges will never prevent them from experiencing the transformative benefits of scouting. Serving youth across 18 counties in West Central Texas, the Texas Trails ScoutReach program partners with public schools and community organizations to deliver consistent, relationship-focused programming through school- and community-based units. We also oversee hundreds of active scouting troops. ScoutReach is an integral part of the Texas Trails Council and the Scouting America network, fulfilling its mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives by providing equitable access to scouting’s character-building programs for all youth, regardless of their background or circumstances. Each week, ScoutReach nurtures character development grounded in leadership, responsibility, teamwork, respect, community service, and the confidence that grows when children are truly known, challenged, and supported. We bring scouting directly into after-school settings such as local Boys and Girls Clubs, rural elementary school programs, and churches. The majority of schools we serve are Title I, low-socioeconomic schools. Our programming includes a variety of hands-on activities, ranging from Native American weaving, local plant and bird identification, to basic first aid, following the Scouting America curriculum. Demographically, our ScoutReach youth are 80% low-income, 31% Hispanic, 10% African American, and come from small towns where structured youth development opportunities are increasingly scarce. Camp Tonkawa, our 188-acre campsite located in Taylor County, is where these lessons truly come alive! For many ScoutReach youth, it is their first meaningful outdoor experience. They arrive by bus, step onto a trail, and suddenly their world grows bigger. They collaborate to solve challenge ropes course problems that require teamwork beyond any one person’s effort. They develop focus and self-discipline on the archery range. They acquire practical skills in outdoor cooking (who doesn’t love showing a child how to make a s’more for the first time over a fire) and basic first aid. Our Scoutreach children get to engage directly with conservation by exploring how land, water, and wildlife are affected, and why stewardship matters. By the end of the day, they are tired, proud, and visibly transformed. The challenge is not interest, it’s access. Approximately 80% of our ScoutReach participants live at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, making registration fees and transportation costs significant barriers for many families. Rural childhood poverty is about more than income; it’s about limited access to opportunities that help young people build confidence, leadership, and hope for the future. In many small towns across West Central Texas, families work hard, support one another, and hold deep ties to their communities and faith. The challenge is not a lack of willingness or motivation, but the lack of local programs or the prohibitive cost of those that do exist. National research confirms that rural counties face higher and more persistent child poverty rates than urban areas. Many families fall into the Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) category. Which means what, really? It means they work, often multiple jobs, yet struggle to cover basic expenses. In these circumstances, even a modest registration fee can mean the difference between a child joining a positive youth program or missing out on vital guidance. Once that door closes early, it often stays closed. Our grant request will fund a one-year ScoutReach Access Fund with two primary goals: Fee Offset: Reduce registration costs for rural families so their children can enroll in either a traditional scouting program in their City, or an after-school program, without financial strain, preventing dropout before participation begins. Transportation and Character Resources: Provide transportation to Camp Tonkawa for ScoutReach youth to attend day trips and fund supplies for hands-on materials that deepen leadership, service, outdoor skills, and practical learning. This potential is not just abstract; it is tangible. In action, it looks like this:
-A shy 8-year-old leading their first flag ceremony.
-A girl from a rural district earning her first merit badge in first aid and discovering her passion for health sciences.
-A young man who has never camped before steps up to mentor younger scouts. This is identity formation, not just programming. When youth internalize that they belong and are capable, they gain the confidence needed to succeed. This transformation leads to positive long-term outcomes, including higher graduation rates, better employment opportunities, greater stability, and more prosocial decision-making. These outcomes equip communities with strong mentors and leaders who provide the foundation for growth and prosperity. By removing financial and logistical barriers, ScoutReach ensures rural youth have equitable opportunities to grow through scouting’s proven character-building experiences, fostering community strength and lifelong resilience. Our project budget reflects the revenue capacity we hope to grow into as demand continues to rise.

The Positive Futures program at IHDF is a long-term, wraparound youth development initiative designed to close the persistent opportunity gap faced by youth from under-resourced communities (who we fondly refer to as Dreamer Scholars). Positive Futures provides Dreamer Scholars with more than a decade of comprehensive support—from early elementary school through postsecondary education and into early career—equipping them with the life skills, mindsets, and developmental supports needed to thrive academically, professionally, and as engaged members of their communities.

Using a cohort model, each Dreamer Scholar’s journey spans over ten years of wraparound programming. Our holistic approach centers on the overall well-being of each student, anticipating their evolving needs as they reach new milestones. Program staff maintain close, ongoing connections with students, offering guidance and support that bridges academic performance, emotional health, and family dynamics. This consistent presence ensures that Dreamer Scholars receive the broad-based support necessary to grow into healthy, productive adults.

The program integrates academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, mentorship, college and career readiness, and family engagement, recognizing the interdependence of academic performance, identity development, emotional well-being, and environmental stability. Project Title: Brain & Body Integration Program for Children
Project Description:

This grant request seeks support for the Brain & Body Integration Program for Children, an intensive therapeutic initiative of the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development. The program serves children diagnosed with birth trauma, traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, Down syndrome, and other brain-related conditions resulting in developmental delays.

The program is grounded in the principle of neuroplasticity—the understanding that the brain is a pliable organ capable of being trained or retrained to strengthen functions that were damaged or never fully developed. Through targeted, evidence-informed interventions, children are supported in building stronger neurological pathways that enhance physical, cognitive, and functional performance.

Participants attend rehabilitative sessions two days per week for eight weeks. Following a comprehensive initial evaluation, each child receives an individualized service plan tailored to their specific strengths and challenges. Services may include neurodevelopmental exercises, vestibular stimulation, perceptual and cognitive training, educational kinesiology, and aquatic wellness therapy. This integrated approach addresses the whole child—brain and body working together.

By the conclusion of the program, children are expected to demonstrate measurable improvement in upper and lower body strength, balance, coordination, focus, concentration, and overall neurological organization. These foundational skills are critical to improving academic readiness, independence, and age-appropriate functioning.

For 54 years, the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development has provided specialized services to children and adults with brain injuries. It remains the only organization in the surrounding region offering services anchored in neurodevelopmental theory. With limited therapeutic resources available for children with brain-based developmental challenges, the Brain & Body Integration Program fills a critical service gap.

Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their highest potential. This program provides structured support and specialized care necessary to help them do so.

Thelma B. Pittman Jupiter Preschool is seeking a $10,000 grant from the Charles Harmonowski Foundation to enhance early learning experiences for our preschool children. Our goal is to create a richer, more developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports school readiness and whole-child growth.
Funds from this project will be used to expand and upgrade classroom learning centers with hands-on literacy resources, sensory tools, and dramatic play equipment that encourage problem-solving, creativity, and language development. In addition, we plan to create calming areas to help children develop emotional regulation skills, an essential component of social-emotional learning and kindergarten readiness.
This initiative will also include professional development for teachers to ensure they are prepared to maximize the use of new materials. By combining high-quality resources with intentional teaching practices, we aim to increase engagement, language development, and social-emotional growth among our students.

As a faith-based organization, The Connection Center fosters an environment rooted in hope, encouragement, and service that positively impacts the broader community. Through a balance of teaching, action, and reflection, campers learn how strong values influence healthy choices and meaningful community involvement.

Camp programming is intentionally designed to support the whole child—emotionally, mentally, physically, and socially. Through age-appropriate lessons and guided breakout sessions, campers build leadership skills, responsibility, resilience, and healthy decision-making habits. Small-group discussions strengthen communication skills, confidence, and emotional awareness. These lessons are reinforced through team-based service projects where campers practice cooperation, accountability, and the importance of giving back.

Sports, games, arts, and creative activities are woven throughout the camp experience to promote overall health and development. Athletic activities encourage physical wellness, teamwork, perseverance, and self-discipline. Creative expression supports emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, and confidence-building. Together, these experiences create a safe, supportive environment where youth feel known, valued, and empowered.

The camp also provides structured leadership opportunities for older youth and college students ages 16–21 who serve as mentors and support staff. These young leaders receive training in mentorship, responsibility, and positive role modeling while gaining real-world leadership experience.

As a result, participants develop strong character, healthy habits, emotional resilience, and a lasting commitment to service, equipping them to thrive in school, relationships, and their communities.
