Project Title: Youth C.A.R.E. Mental Wellness Initiative
Project Description:

We respectfully request support for a dedicated Youth C.A.R.E. Mental Wellness Initiative serving children and teens (ages 5–17) experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Palm Beach and Broward Counties.

As housing instability rises the emotional toll on youth is profound. Children facing sudden family disruption, economic hardship, food insecurity, and school instability experience significantly higher rates of anxiety, depression, trauma-related stress, and behavioral challenges. Toxic stress during these formative years can impair cognitive development, academic performance, and long-term well-being. Yet accessible, culturally responsive mental health services for this population remain limited.

Our Youth C.A.R.E. Initiative operates under our established C.A.R.E. (counseling, assessment, referrals, evaluation) behavioral health framework and serves children enrolled in our Pathway to Prosperity program, Prevention/Diversion services, and outreach network. The initiative provides trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate interventions designed to promote healing and resilience.

Core components include:
• Individual and group counseling led by licensed clinicians
• Weekly therapeutic support sessions focused on emotional regulation
• Mindfulness and coping-skills workshops
• Monthly caregiver workshops to reinforce coping strategies at home

Over a 12-month period, we will:
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for at least 40 youth
• Provide consistent behavioral health services to a minimum of 40 children
• Achieve reduced anxiety or emotional distress for 80% of participating youth (pre/post evaluations)
• See 85% of caregivers report improved emotional regulation and behavior

Nearly half of those we serve are children. By addressing mental health alongside housing stability, we ensure young people do not simply exit crisis—but gain the emotional tools needed to thrive.
