Project Title: ThrivePath: Trauma-Informed Arts & Mentorship Program
Project Description:

ThrivePath is a trauma-informed arts and mentorship initiative serving over 200 high school students ages 14-18 at Global Leadership Academy High School, a Title I public charter school in Jacksonville, Florida. All GLA HS students qualify for free or reduced lunch, over 40% come from single-parent households, and many have experienced significant Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), including poverty, family instability, violence exposure, displacement, and refugee trauma.

ThrivePath provides a structured, healing-centered environment where youth build emotional resilience and positive identity through theatre, music, visual arts, and one-on-one mentorship. Trained educators and counseling staff guide students through weekly arts-based therapeutic sessions- mask-making, improvisation, trauma mapping, abstract painting, rhythm, songwriting, and full theatrical productions such as Alice in Wonderland and a one-act festival piece.
Students work closely with mentors who support them through life planning, emotional regulation, and relationship building.

The program also includes trauma-informed caregiver workshops, reflective journaling, family engagement, and counseling check-ins led by school counselor Synetta Lawson, MS. A culminating Community Healing Showcase shares student performances and art installations, promoting community dialogue around resilience, healing, and youth voice.

A $10,000 grant would directly support program materials, trauma-informed arts supplies, student journals, performance needs, and mentorship resources.

ThrivePath addresses a critical gap in accessible mental health and emotional supports for vulnerable youth and aligns with the Foundation’s mission to improve and transform the lives of children and young adults in the United States.

Project Title: Warm Honeys Holiday Wishes
Project Description:

Warm Honeys Holiday Wishes is an annual empowerment and outreach initiative led by HTX Honeys, a Houston-based women’s nonprofit dedicated to uplifting women through sisterhood, wellness, and service. The project provides holiday gifts, pampering experiences, and mentorship to teen girls living in local group homes, many of whom have faced instability, neglect, or limited access to positive female role models.

Our mission is to create a day of joy, confidence, and connection that extends beyond the holiday season. Each year, we curate a full-day experience that includes beauty and self-care services, engaging activities, nutritious meals, and motivational sessions led by local women entrepreneurs and community leaders. Every participant receives personalized gifts and self-care kits designed to encourage self-worth and wellness.

Since its launch, Warm Honeys Holiday Wishes has served dozens of girls across Houston, growing through strong community partnerships and in-kind sponsorships from local businesses. The initiative has inspired repeat volunteerism and strengthened collaboration among women-owned enterprises that support our mission.

With grant support, we plan to expand the program in 2025 to reach additional group homes, enhance our mentorship element, and provide follow-up sessions that foster emotional well-being and leadership skills. Funding will directly support gift packages, venue and activity expenses, volunteer coordination, and transportation for participants.

Warm Honeys Holiday Wishes is more than a seasonal act of giving; it’s a catalyst for community connection and youth empowerment. Through compassion, collaboration, and care, we aim to remind every girl that she matters, she is loved, and she has the power to shape her own story.
