Project Title: Youth PEACE Peer Groups
Project Description:

Geared towards healing and growth, our Youth PEACE Peer Group project was created for teens who have experienced domestic violence and/or sexual abuse. Our peer groups are safe spaces that invite teens from all walks of life to connect, share, and heal together. These sessions are not just meetings; they’re a hub where every voice is heard and every story is valued. Through a carefully curated series of evidence-based activities, participants dive into social-emotional well-being and mental health themes, embarking on a collective path to resilience and understanding.

Guided by the principle that healing is personal and communal, our program has been co-created by teen survivors, ensuring the design fosters an environment of trust and openness. Teens engage in discussions and creative expression, exploring their emotions and experiences in a judgment-free space. The beauty of these groups lies in the shared journey—discovering together that one is not alone in their struggles.

Beyond dialogue, the Youth Peer Groups aim to equip participants with tangible coping strategies and life skills. From managing stress to building healthy relationships, each session is an opportunity to learn and grow, not just as individuals but as a supportive community.

At its heart, our project is more than just a program; it’s a movement toward healing, empowerment, and a brighter, more supportive future for all teens affected by CDV and sexual abuse. Together, we’re not just overcoming; we’re thriving!

Project Title: Exploradoor AmbassaDOOR Program
Project Description:

Exploradoor simplifies access and connection of youth from marginalized and low-income communities to programs, experiences, career exploration and work opportunities that inform career and educational pathways, as well as provide personal growth and development. The AmbassaDOOR program consists of two interrelated parts: The compilation and curation of a free, internet-based platform called Exploradoor.com that aggregates teen programs and experiences, including jobs and internships, into one easy to use location that both organizes opportunities by student interest categories and directly connects them to the opportunities they choose. The second is the Ambassador school-force that trains selected students to promote Exploradoor.com and influence other teens in their respective schools to learn about and participate in Exploradoor.com-featured program opportunities, including job shadows, college visits, career exploration programs and internships. Both parts of the AmbassaDOOR program work in an integrated fashion to increase teen engagement and preparedness about career and life choices after high school, especially for teens who are left out of these opportunities due unawareness or lack of social capital. Over the 23-24 school year, the AmbassaDOOR program hired, trained and provided ongoing skills and motivational coaching to 30 high school juniors and seniors in 15 Indianapolis, Indiana public high schools, providing a hands-on work-experience to the Ambassadors themselves while also leveraging their efforts to implement school-based marketing tactics to attract and enroll low-income and minority youth into youth-targeted career, job and skill development programs. In 2023,over 75% of our platform users connecting to programs were minority youth: 55% AA; 22% Hispanic; 10% Asian. Additionally, over 90% of our Ambassador interns were minority and 70% were female and 30% male. During that same period, Exploradoor.com was visited by over 30,000 unique visitors and made over 2800 referrals/connections to featured programs.

Project Title: Emergency Foster Shelter
Project Description:

The Emergency Foster Shelter Program provided by Grandma’s Place serves children that have suffered from abuse, mistreatment, and/or neglect & have been subsequently removed from their homes for their own safety by the Department of Children and Families and/or law enforcement.
Operating continuously through the year, the shelter has a capacity of 16 children per night and is licensed for children aged birth to 12 years old. GP is unique in Palm Beach County in that it accepts all children with disabilities, and it is the only one certified to care for both girls & boys ages birth to 7 years old. The shelter plays a critical role for these children, as most abuse victims are younger than six years old. The program serves an average of 50 children a year.
During their stay, the children reside in a secure, stable environment that enables them to heal & rebuild trust with others. They receive a psychological assessment & counseling as indicated. Registered dieticians develop meal plans which are followed by staff so that all children receive proper nutrition. Children have semi-private bedrooms with bright, kid-friendly décor, & a farmhouse kitchen table for meals and homework. These features help to make it feel as close to a real home as possible.
In addition to these features, Grandma’s Place tries to be no different from a conventional family. It is a lively household with skilled staff who ensure that the children feel safe & at ease. The staff members weave the details of home life, like school drop-offs, after-school extracurricular activities, and movie outings, into the shelter’s daily life, & the children keep a busy schedule. These efforts help to reach their larger goal: helping the children placed in their care recover from abuse and find long-term success.

Project Title: Young Life Inner City Jackson – MS Camp Campaign
Project Description:

Young Life Inner-city Jackson, Mississippi, introduces youth, ages 14-19, to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith. This is accomplished through building personal relationships, meeting youth in their environments, and providing life-changing experiences, all while helping youth develop skills and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential through the care of adults who invest time, effort, and money. The purpose will be accomplished through the 4 C’s: Contact work, Campaigners, Club, and Camp.
Young Life requires each area ministry to be self-sustained through fundraising, individual donations, and grant opportunities to serve youth. COVID-19 has affected our donation stream. They are leaving us in need of funds to provide consistent service to youth through Young Life. Thus, we are requesting funds to supplement fees for inner-city youth to attend a Young Life Camp. The cost per camper for a week is $1,000 – transportation, T–shirts, meals, and activities. Most of our students are low-income, from single-family homes, and African Americans who attend Title I schools. Students/families must contribute $200 toward the fees for each student, and the Area Director raises the rest of the money. Annually, between May and August 1st, we take 55 youth and leaders to this one-week experience – the best week of their lives.
We ask your support to offset this $55,000 expense. This is an opportunity for youth to leave the inner-city walls to experience a week of camping. This experience likely provides campers opportunities for personal growth, team building, and immersive activities to foster community and learning. One thing that has been consistent in the inner-city schools in Jackson, Mississippi, for the past 26 years is Young Life. Your foundation can help us to continue this legacy.

Project Title: Mindful Mentoring
Project Description:

Hands That Make A Difference (HTMAD) is a community-based organization located in Harlem, New York, providing youth and young adult programs and support services for their parents/grandparents.

Our mission is to provide support services that produce physically, mentally, socially, and academically healthy youth and young adults. We also aim to ensure that their parents and grandparents have the resources to thrive.

Our holistic and culturally responsive approach increases their capacity to become happy, well-rounded, engaged, civic-minded successful lifelong learners.

We provide an array of services, including, but not limited to, an After-School Program, a Saturday Program, and a Summer Camp for youth ages 5-12. These programs provide youth development and educational services through homework help, tutoring, computer technology, STEM education, mentoring, music, sports, and a violence prevention program.

In 2023 we were awarded $50,000 from LISC/Foot Locker for a Mindful Mentoring program. These funds only supported programming and not operations. With these funds, we purchased curriculums from S.P.A.R.K. (https://sparkcurriculum.org/).

"SPARK Mentoring Programs Speak to the Potential, Ability, and Resilience inside every Kid. Trusted by teachers, counselors, mentors, and mental health professionals, these evidence-based programs create greater academic success, a healthier state of mind, and deeper connections with peers, adults, and communities. Engaging, age-appropriate lessons are proven to increase mental well-being, resilience, emotional development, and social skills such as communication, decision-making, and problem-solving."

After a successful year of having our students complete this programming, while we will retain our curriculum, we need funds to retain our certified trainer, staff time for this programming, and supplies for a new year of programming.
