Project Title: Young Life Inner City Jackson – MS Camp Campaign
Project Description:

Young Life Inner-city Jackson, Mississippi, introduces youth, ages 14-19, to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith. This is accomplished through building personal relationships, meeting youth in their environments, and providing life-changing experiences, all while helping youth develop skills and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential through the care of adults who invest time, effort, and money. The purpose will be accomplished through the 4 C’s: Contact work, Campaigners, Club, and Camp.
Young Life requires each area ministry to be self-sustained through fundraising, individual donations, and grant opportunities to serve youth. COVID-19 has affected our donation stream. They are leaving us in need of funds to provide consistent service to youth through Young Life. Thus, we are requesting funds to supplement fees for inner-city youth to attend a Young Life Camp. The cost per camper for a week is $1,000 – transportation, T–shirts, meals, and activities. Most of our students are low-income, from single-family homes, and African Americans who attend Title I schools. Students/families must contribute $200 toward the fees for each student, and the Area Director raises the rest of the money. Annually, between May and August 1st, we take 55 youth and leaders to this one-week experience – the best week of their lives.
We ask your support to offset this $55,000 expense. This is an opportunity for youth to leave the inner-city walls to experience a week of camping. This experience likely provides campers opportunities for personal growth, team building, and immersive activities to foster community and learning. One thing that has been consistent in the inner-city schools in Jackson, Mississippi, for the past 26 years is Young Life. Your foundation can help us to continue this legacy.
