Project Title: Special Activities for Bigs and Littles
Project Description:

Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Our vision is that all youth achieve their full potential. We make a positive, measurable difference in the lives of the most at-risk children in our community by promoting self-esteem and character development, improving educational outcomes, reducing risky behaviors, and expanding awareness of life’s opportunities.

Each child (ages 6-13) in the program is placed in a one-to-one mentoring relationship with a carefully screened and trained adult mentor who meets with the child on a regular basis. Our program focuses on the strengths of these children and, as research shows, one-to-one mentoring can have a huge impact on the lives of the children we serve.

These grant funds would be used to host activities for mentors and mentees to do together. By providing the volunteer and child opportunities to get together for enriching activities in the community, we create moments for them to bond, learn, and grow together. The cost of this grant would cover entry fees, food/drink, and supply costs to host the activities. For example, we will be hosting a financial literacy course at our office, and this grant would cover food/drink for the event and notebooks for attendees. We will also host a pumpkin painting activity, and this would cover the cost of supplies for them to create their pumpkins.

The activities would take place throughout a one-year period.
