Requested Amount: 10,000

Project Title: Youth Crisis Services at Mary’s Place
Project Description:

Mary’s Place: Sexual Assault Center of the Coastal Empire respectfully requests $10,000 to support our youth crisis services and prevention education programs, which are vital to protecting and empowering young people across our region.

In 2024, we served over 20,000 youth under the age of 21 through school- and community-based prevention education. These interactive, age-appropriate sessions focus on recognizing the signs of abuse, setting healthy boundaries, and understanding how to seek help—critical knowledge that equips youth to protect themselves and others. Our prevention team works closely with schools, parents, and youth-serving organizations to ensure that this education reaches those most at risk.

In addition to prevention efforts, Mary’s Place provides comprehensive crisis services to children who have already experienced sexual abuse or assault. In 2024, our in-house center served 52 children under the age of 17—some as young as 14 months—with trauma-informed forensic medical exams conducted by trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE). Each child also received access to follow-up care, including trauma counseling, family support, case management, and emergency financial assistance.

A $10,000 grant will directly support both prevention and crisis services by funding outreach materials, education program delivery, medical supplies, and immediate support for children and families in crisis. Your support ensures that youth in our community not only receive timely intervention after trauma, but also the tools and knowledge to prevent it from happening in the first place.

With your partnership, we can continue to create safer environments and brighter futures for the children and teens we serve every day.

Project Title: FINANCIAL FUTURES PROGRAM
Project Description:

The Winners Institute for Successful Empowerment (WISE), Inc. presents the Financial Futures Program, a dynamic initiative designed to dismantle perceived barriers for youth aged 12-21. Our mission is to provide future young leaders with the necessary tools and support to succeed. We believe that by fostering positive asset-building in knowledge and self-belief, we empower them to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.

This program serves as a beacon of hope by moving from theory to tangible experience. It begins with a multi-week "Financial Foundation" bootcamp where participants learn the fundamentals of personal finance, investing, and economics. This phase equips them with the practical tools for lifelong success.

The program culminates in a two-day immersive trip to a major North Carolina financial hub, such as Charlotte. Here, students will tour corporate offices of leading financial institutions, engage in roundtable discussions with a diverse group of professionals, and see career possibilities firsthand. This experience is designed to build resiliency and broaden their worldview, showing them that these opportunities are within their reach.

Upon their return, students enter the "Empowerment Launchpad" phase, where they receive ongoing mentorship from professionals they met and are challenged to apply their new knowledge to a community-oriented financial literacy project. The Financial Futures Program doesn’t just show them the path to success; it gives them the confidence and the map to walk it themselves.

Project Title: Educatinal Workshop
Project Description:

The Obstacle of Lupus Organization Inc. is proud to present a comprehensive Educational Workshop series aimed at raising awareness, educating the public, and empowering those affected by lupus. Lupus is a complex, chronic autoimmune disease that disproportionately impacts women of color and often goes undiagnosed or misunderstood. This workshop project is designed to address the critical need for accessible, reliable, and community-based lupus education.

The workshop will be delivered in a hybrid format—both in-person and virtual—to ensure accessibility for individuals with limited mobility or transportation barriers. The sessions will cover essential topics such as understanding lupus symptoms and diagnosis, treatment options, coping strategies, nutrition and wellness, mental health support, patient rights, and advocacy. Special breakout sessions will be included for caregivers, newly diagnosed patients, and youth impacted by lupus within their families. The goal of the workshop is to increase knowledge, reduce stigma, and build a supportive network among patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and advocates. Expert guest speakers including rheumatologists, social workers, and lupus warriors will provide evidence-based information and share personal experiences. Interactive Q&A sessions, printed educational materials, and lupus resource kits will be provided to all attendees.

The expected outcome of this project is improved patient confidence in managing their health, increased community engagement in lupus awareness, and the development of stronger peer support connections. By offering consistent educational programming, The Obstacle of Lupus Organization Inc. strives to bridge the information gap and create a more informed and empowered lupus community. Funding and community support will allow us to host these workshops quarterly and expand outreach efforts, ultimately moving closer to our mission: to educate and guide patients and their families about lupus while working toward a future free of this devastating disease.

Project Title: Art Mentorship for Kids
Project Description:

Art Mentorship for Kids – Bless the Children Project

The Art Mentorship for Kids & Teens program, a key initiative of the Bless the Children Project (501c3), provides meaningful, hands-on arts education to underserved children and youth in the rural community of Mount Shasta, California. Our mission is to inspire creativity, build confidence, and nurture emotional well-being through high-quality visual and media arts experiences for ages 7–12.

Launched in 2018 and set to relaunch this year with expanded offerings, the program operates in partnership with local schools and libraries to ensure accessibility for families facing geographic and economic barriers. Many of the children we serve come from low-income or single-parent households and would otherwise have no access to arts instruction or mentorship.

Our curriculum combines foundational art skills—drawing, painting, digital illustration, storytelling, and basic animation—with social-emotional learning and youth empowerment. Students are guided by experienced professional artists and mentors in small-group sessions that foster both technical growth and self-expression.

Measurable outcomes for each 12-session program cycle include:
• 100% of enrolled students completing an original art portfolio
• 80% demonstrating increased skills in drawing and composition (pre/post evaluation)
• 90% showing improved confidence and creative problem-solving, as reported by parents and teachers
• Community art exhibition and digital gallery to showcase student work

Our goal is to cultivate joy, resilience, and creative thinking—skills that empower children far beyond the classroom. With your support, we can expand access to this vital programming and help ensure that rural, underserved children are not left behind when it comes to arts education and mentorship.

Project Title: The Turning Point Project: Disrupting Cycles, Building Futures
Project Description:

The mission of Freedom2Succeed (F2S) is to empower returning citizens and at-promise youth to thrive and prosper. F2S reduces recidivism and disrupts the school-to-prison pipeline in a unique way by training college-educated, formerly-incarcerated adults to be tutors for at-risk/at-promise youth. Through our tutors, we have delivered Learn2Earn Scholars™ programming in three Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) in San Diego County, with positive, measurable results.

JCCS provides a fully accredited educational program for school-age youth who are either wards of the court or have been referred by social services, probation, or school districts. Because the tutors can model attitudes and methods of overcoming trauma and achieving career goals, F2S instructors capture immediate and sustained student attention. At JCCS campuses, they assist students with their work throughout the day and teach technology, media-arts and leadership skills.

F2S would like to expand the reach of our programming for at promise youth by requesting additional funding for a new project. A 6-week Saturday class will promote scenarios created by youth online via downloadable ELearning modules. These would be marketed to school districts and at-risk youth directly.
Our student creators would receive revenue generated from the downloads of their programs, encouraging them to pursue sustainable employment in technology and media arts, and equip them with presentation-technology skills. We would enable them to further refine and learn marketing of their behavioral simulations on gang activity, substance abuse, social media and financial literacy based on their own lived experiences.
This project will encompass 5 four-hour Saturday classes for 20 students and provide food and stipends for attending. Through this new program, students will earn revenue as they monetize their games, transferring their wisdom to broader audiences of at-risk youth via our website.
