Project Title: Educatinal Workshop
Project Description:
The Obstacle of Lupus Organization Inc. is proud to present a comprehensive Educational Workshop series aimed at raising awareness, educating the public, and empowering those affected by lupus. Lupus is a complex, chronic autoimmune disease that disproportionately impacts women of color and often goes undiagnosed or misunderstood. This workshop project is designed to address the critical need for accessible, reliable, and community-based lupus education.
The workshop will be delivered in a hybrid format—both in-person and virtual—to ensure accessibility for individuals with limited mobility or transportation barriers. The sessions will cover essential topics such as understanding lupus symptoms and diagnosis, treatment options, coping strategies, nutrition and wellness, mental health support, patient rights, and advocacy. Special breakout sessions will be included for caregivers, newly diagnosed patients, and youth impacted by lupus within their families. The goal of the workshop is to increase knowledge, reduce stigma, and build a supportive network among patients, caregivers, medical professionals, and advocates. Expert guest speakers including rheumatologists, social workers, and lupus warriors will provide evidence-based information and share personal experiences. Interactive Q&A sessions, printed educational materials, and lupus resource kits will be provided to all attendees.
The expected outcome of this project is improved patient confidence in managing their health, increased community engagement in lupus awareness, and the development of stronger peer support connections. By offering consistent educational programming, The Obstacle of Lupus Organization Inc. strives to bridge the information gap and create a more informed and empowered lupus community. Funding and community support will allow us to host these workshops quarterly and expand outreach efforts, ultimately moving closer to our mission: to educate and guide patients and their families about lupus while working toward a future free of this devastating disease.
