Project Title: Rising Youth Counseling Initiative: Empowering Ages 8-18"
Project Description:

The Rising Youth Counseling Initiative is a comprehensive program designed to provide essential mental health support and empowerment to youth aged 8 to 18. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by young individuals in today’s world, this initiative aims to foster resilience, emotional well-being, and personal growth through accessible and culturally sensitive counseling services.
The Rising Youth Counseling Initiative is not just a counseling program; it’s a catalyst for positive change in the lives of young individuals. By providing them with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive, we aim to achieve the following outcomes:

Improved mental health and emotional well-being among participants
Increased resilience and coping skills in navigating life’s challenges
Enhanced academic performance and interpersonal relationships
Reduction in risky behaviors and instances of crisis
Empowerment to become active contributors to their communities.

Our program offers individualized counseling sessions delivered by trained professionals, tailored to address the diverse needs and concerns of youth participants.
Holistic Approach: We believe in nurturing the holistic development of youth. In addition to traditional talk therapy, our program incorporates various therapeutic modalities, including art therapy, mindfulness techniques, and psychoeducation workshops. This holistic approach encourages self-expression, self-awareness, and the development of coping strategies essential for navigating life’s challenges. Beyond addressing immediate concerns, the Rising Youth Counseling Initiative is committed to empowering participants to become agents of positive change in their lives and communities. Through strength-based interventions and goal-setting exercises, youth are encouraged to tap into their innate resilience, cultivate self-confidence, and envision a brighter future for themselves. We strive to remove barriers to mental health care and ensure the accessibility of our services to all youth, regardless of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, or background.

Project Title: Utilizing resources to increase Prenatal Care Received in Rural Areas
Project Description:

Choices Crisis Pregnancy Center is a nonprofit, confidential and non-judgmental center that provides life changing and life saving services to women and men regardless of age, race, financial ability, or religion. I am writing to see if you would consider a proposal to expand our resources supply available to our clients.

At Choices CPC, we strongly believe that babies growth and development begins with prenatal care is most effective when started early in pregnancy. We are committed to counsel, educate, and support babies growth and development in-utero and out of utero by supplying adequate nutritional supplements: I.e. breast pads, breast pumps, formula, and prenatal vitamins. We also supply appropriate hygienic care supplies: I.e. pads, diapers, wipes, rash creams, baby soaps/shampoos, etc. Additionally, we help support parents by providing ongoing education through parenting classes, information, and books for children to assist with children’s educational development and expand vocabulary from infancy to adolescence.

During 2023 we supplied nutritional, hygienic, and/or educational needs for clients and reached an increase of 84.21% from the 2022 year. Our major goal is continue to offer these resources to our community and beyond for free so parents can educate and nurture children that can thrive and be developed to their full potential in a stable and fully supported family.

We do not have an OB/GYN/maternity service in our rural county or surrounding areas. We currently receive referrals from various agencies including: Department of Family and Children Services, local medical practices, and Department of Health, to name a few.

We believe with a grant of $10,000 we can purchase additional supplies to provide nutrition, hygienic, and educational resources with the help of your foundations support that has expressed interest in supplying for children’s needs in regard to health and welfare services.

Project Title: "Seeds of Change" Youth Environmental Justice Summit
Project Description:

Youth on Root’s (YoR) annual “Seeds of Change Summit” brings together high school aged environmental justice leaders from across California as delegates for their communities. The Summit is entirely free, including financial support for travel and accommodations. YoR believes that youth on the frontlines of environmental harms have the most lived experience and therefore the highest expertise, making them the ideal leaders of the Environmental Justice Movement. We believe that youth are not the leaders of tomorrow; they are the leaders of today.

Frontline youth from California, who are overwhelmingly low-income youth of color, have long been and continue to lead the fight to protect and save their communities from the ever increasing and ever present threat of climate change and those who perpetrate the crisis. But they need our help. By uplifting their efforts and providing resources for education, connection, and leadership, YoR’s programs elevate those with the most lived experience and expertise with environmental justice to the highest levels of leadership in the movement. By centering and celebrating the achievements of those with the most to lose, we stand the best chance of winning the ongoing fight against the climate disaster.

The Summit’s goals are to create an empowering space for youth to collaborate and organize around the most pressing environmental justice issues impacting their communities, gain exposure to higher education institutions and career opportunities, and connect with other frontline youth. This creates immediate youth empowerment, connection, and solidarity in the short term. In the long term, frontline youth are centered in the movement and greater environmental field as those with the most knowledge and expertise to provide critiques and solutions to environmental concerns, ensuring that the highest paid positions of leadership in the field are held by those with the highest likelihood to implement lasting solutions.
