Project Title: CLASSES
Project Description:

Our evidence-based curriculum integrates Character, Leadership, Academic Success, Student Engagement, Entrepreneurship, and STEM (CLASSES) to address systemic achievement gaps and the digital divide. Class Matters Inc. seeks funding to support our CLASSES After-School STEM Program, a workforce and college readiness initiative for underserved middle and high school students in Northeast and Northwest Oklahoma City. This project aims to equip 100 underrepresented youth across five after-school cohort sites (20 students per site) with the tools, mentorship, and hands-on experiences necessary to pursue careers in STEM and medicine.
Currently, targeted schools in these communities face a lack of STEM infrastructure and instructional resources, primarily due to an institutional focus on the arts. This funding will enable us to purchase essential STEM supplies and equipment, allowing students to engage in real-world, project-based learning that bridges classroom instruction and future career paths.
The year-round CLASSES program delivers weekly sessions (2–3 hours) that incorporate:
• Peer-to-peer mentoring and academic support
• Hands-on STEM projects and enrichment
• Workforce readiness and leadership development
• Soft skills and 21st-century skill-building
• Industry exposure through partnerships in healthcare, aviation, IT, and energy
We embed the Engineering Design Process (EDP) into every major STEM project to teach students how to think critically, approach challenges methodically, and resolve conflicts constructively.

Total Project Budget: 100,000

Age Group To Be Served: Ages 11-24, with a primary focus on upper elementary, middle, and high school students who are under-resourced and traditionally under-represented in STEM and technical fields.
