Project Title: Smiles Across Arizona
Project Description:

Smiles Across Arizona is a mobile oral health outreach initiative led by TheSmileZone to provide preventive dental care, education, and hygiene resources to underserved children across Arizona. The program focuses on reaching children from low-income families who face barriers to accessing dental care, including financial limitations, transportation challenges, and limited availability of pediatric dental providers.

Through partnerships with schools, Head Start programs, childcare centers, and community health fairs, TheSmileZone delivers dental screenings, fluoride varnish treatments, and oral health education directly where children live and learn. Each participating child also receives a dental hygiene kit that includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and educational materials to support healthy daily habits at home.

Funding from the Hermanowski Foundation will support the purchase of essential dental supplies, preventive materials, and hygiene kits needed to serve approximately 2,500 children during the project year. These resources allow our team of dental professionals and volunteers to safely provide preventive services and education at no cost to families.

The primary goals of Smiles Across Arizona are to reduce untreated tooth decay, increase oral health knowledge among children and caregivers, and connect families to local dental providers for continued care when needed. By focusing on prevention and early intervention, the program helps children avoid pain, infection, and missed school days caused by untreated dental disease.

Through this initiative, TheSmileZone aims to create lasting improvements in children’s health and well-being while ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed with a healthy smile.
