Project Title: Built Different Youth Leadership Imitative
Project Description:
The Built Different Youth Leadership Initiative is a monthly youth development program designed to strengthen leadership skills, confidence, and decision-making among adolescents ages 14–18 in underserved communities in St. Louis, Missouri.
Many young people today face identity challenges, peer pressure, and limited access to positive mentorship environments. Built Different provides a structured, adult-led space where youth can build confidence, practice leadership, and develop the skills necessary to make intentional, values-based decisions.
Each monthly gathering includes leadership discussions, guided reflection activities, and mentorship conversations focused on real-life issues such as fear, identity, and purpose. Youth also participate in interactive activities designed to strengthen decision-making and communication skills. The program is hosted in partnership with City Jump, which provides a safe and engaging environment where youth can connect through structured activities and community engagement.
The program addresses a critical gap in youth development by providing a consistent leadership environment that encourages young people to think critically, build confidence, and engage positively in their schools and communities.
Grant funding will help support youth participation access, leadership materials, program supplies, and mentorship programming. Through this initiative, youth will strengthen decision-making skills, build leadership identity, and increase engagement in their schools and communities.
