Project Title: Level II Special Care Nursery at North Texas Medical Center
Project Description:

North Texas Medical Center (NTMC) delivers nearly 300 babies every year. On average, 10% of those deliveries are considered "high risk" and necessitate a 1.5-hour transfer to another healthcare facility in Fort Worth. This transfer process creates complications for both mothers and their newborns, which contributed to the loss of four infants in 2024. In response, NTMC is seeking funding to establish a Level II Special Care Nursery, which would allow the hospital to provide intermediate, specialized care for infants born at or after 32 weeks gestation, or those recovering from serious illness. Achieving a Level II designation would allow NTMC’s nursery to keep mothers and babies close to home, delivering lifesaving care to our most vulnerable patients.
