Project Title: Future Golfers of America – "Growing the Champions of Tomorrow"
Project Description:

The Ted Rhodes Foundation seeks support from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation to expand its youth development initiative, Future Golfers of America – “Growing the Champions of Tomorrow.”

This program introduces underrepresented youth ages 5–18 to the game of golf while providing mentorship, life skills training, and opportunities for personal growth.

Through this initiative, the Foundation hosts youth golf clinics and the Ted Rhodes Junior Golf Tour, which offers competitive playing opportunities and exposure to the game for youth who may not otherwise have access to the sport.

In 2026, the tour will host events in Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, Jacksonville, FL, Montgomery, AL, and Dallas, engaging youth from urban communities and providing them with meaningful experiences in golf and leadership development.

Grant funds will help support essential program costs including golf course access, professional instruction, equipment for youth participants, tournament operations, and transportation assistance. By reducing financial barriers, the Foundation ensures that youth from underserved communities can participate in structured golf programming that promotes confidence, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Beyond learning the fundamentals of golf, participants gain valuable life skills such as goal setting, perseverance, leadership, and teamwork. The program also introduces youth to potential educational and career pathways connected to the golf industry.

Through this initiative, the Ted Rhodes Foundation expects to serve hundreds of youth annually across multiple cities while honoring the legacy of golf pioneer Ted Rhodes, one of the first African American professional golfers to break barriers in the sport.

Support from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation will help expand access to the game of golf and empower the next generation of diverse leaders both on and off the course.
