Project Title: Creating a home for foster Teens
Project Description:

The Elizabeth Home is a residential group home in Mobile, Alabama, serving foster teen girls ages 13–18. In Mobile, teens over 12 face limited placement options, leaving many at risk of instability, multiple placements, and poor long-term outcomes. The Elizabeth Home fills this critical gap by providing safe housing, structured routines, academic support, life skills training, mentorship, and individualized transition planning.

The home will serve 7–10 residents and is staffed by a full-time house parent who provides 24/7 supervision and guidance. Residents will participate in a life skills curriculum, including budgeting, meal preparation, job readiness, and emotional regulation. Academic support through tutoring and school advocacy ensures teens stay on track educationally. Mentorship and enrichment activities, including field trips and workshops, build confidence, social skills, and community connections.

Startup funding will cover initial costs such as furnishings, program materials, licensing, transportation, and the first months of operations. Once open, the home will be sustained through DHR funding ($11,000/month) and supplemented by local churches and community partners.

Expected outcomes include improved academic performance, life skills competency, placement stability, emotional growth, and successful transitions to adulthood.
