Project Title: After-School Tutoring Program
Project Description:

A New Way To Live has started the D.R.E.A.M.E.R.S which is an acronym for Determined to Reach, Educate and Motivate Encouraged Responsible Students After-School Tutoring Program at Uncommon Grounds Cafe at 380 Franklin Ave in Aliquippa, Pa. Our mission is to encourage our at-risk young girls and boys ages 8 to 16, to build resilience through our after-school tutoring program and homework hub. This program works to help our girls and boys academically as well as building self-esteem and leadership. We operate Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm to 7:00pm and one Saturday per month for activities and movies. Providing a safe haven for the youth of the community to gather and have fun while learning new experiences and developing their own self-esteem to help empower themselves to respect their community and school. We have qualified mentors, facilitators, tutors and counselors to help them with their homework and to understand what is expected of them in the classroom from their teachers. We are taking an honest look at the perils, pitfalls and dangers that are placed upon our girls and boys with no direction in our community. There is drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, sexual abuse, violence and depression. There is a need to know when and where to turn when all else fails. Their environment can influence their behavior and give them motivation to achieve their goals.
