Project Title: Fresh Start Workforce and Reentry Empowerment
Project Description:

Truth Church Philadelphia serves underserved adults and returning citizens in the City of Philadelphia through structured workforce development and economic empowerment initiatives. Located adjacent to a state correctional facility, the organization is uniquely positioned to engage justice-involved individuals and families navigating reentry and reintegration into the community. This proximity allows for trusted relationships and timely workforce stabilization support for individuals seeking a fresh start.

Many adults in the surrounding community face structural barriers to gainful employment, including limited access to professional networks, gaps in digital job search skills, lack of career readiness resources, and stigma associated with prior justice involvement. These challenges significantly impact long-term economic stability and successful reintegration.

The Fresh Start Workforce & Reentry Empowerment Initiative is a structured three-month pilot designed to improve employment outcomes for approximately 20 underserved adults, including returning citizens. Participants will receive individualized career development coaching, hands-on resume creation support, assistance establishing professional LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation, and financial literacy education.

The initiative will culminate in a targeted job fair featuring local employers and workforce partners committed to equitable hiring practices. By combining structured workforce training with direct employer engagement, the program creates tangible pathways to employment and economic mobility.

Grant funding will support participant materials, coaching stipends, digital access tools, transportation assistance, and job fair logistics. Volunteer professionals and community partners will provide in-kind meeting space and facilitation support, amplifying the impact of the requested funds.

This initiative represents a scalable model designed to promote long-term economic stability and opportunity within underserved Philadelphia communities.
