Project Title: Creative Connections Fiber Arts Program
Project Description:

Artdillo Studios is a nonprofit arts organization founded in October 2023 in Flint, Michigan with a mission to promote creativity, community, and self-empowerment through the arts. Artdillo Studios began as a grassroots effort to create a welcoming “third space” for artists and Flint residents—a place where people can make art, meet others, and feel a sense of belonging. In the wake of the pandemic, as isolation and loneliness deepened across Flint, our studio became a consistent, low-pressure gathering space where art and social connection coexist.

Artdillo Studios stands out in the nonprofit arts landscape in Michigan because our programs extend beyond a single workshop series. We are known for our weekly open studio hours, where anyone from the public or our programs can drop in to catch up on work, receive instructor guidance, or simply be around other makers. Our affordable, community based, small-group approach has created pockets of communities within our studio that people identify with, consistently show up to, and has quickly spread by word of mouth.

Artdillo Studios is requesting funding to support the Creative Connections Fiber Arts
Program for women, an inclusive initiative offering affordable crochet, textile, and handicraft workshops for women in Flint, Michigan. This program provides hands-on instruction that teaches both artistic and practical skills—empowering women to create, design and alter their own wearables and handicrafts. More than just a class series, the program creates a safe, nurturing environment where women of all ages can build confidence, reduce stress, and connect with others through creativity. Funding will directly support instructor wages, arts materials, and studio operations to ensure accessibility for participants regardless of income.

Total Project Budget: $21,600
