Project Title: School Meals
Project Description:

BCEF seeks general operating funding to support its programs addressing the needs of underserved students in Blaine County School District, a rural school district in Idaho. In 2025/26, our programs will impact every enrolled student (3,144) across the district, addressing challenges like food insecurity, mental health challenges, increased demand for special-needs learning resources and socioeconomic barriers to achievement.
Significant wealth disparities exist in Blaine, with Hailey being named the 5th most expensive city in the US by the New York Times. As the cost of living rises, many local families are struggling. These pressures are also felt within BCSD, where BCEF works to support students facing these obstacles.
Idaho is ranked 51st in the nation for public school funding. Due to budget shortfalls, classroom funds have been reduced significantly. Essential programs may be reduced or eliminated, leaving teachers to seek additional support or pay for materials out of pocket. BCEF’s programs accommodate both urgent needs and planned projects.
