Project Title: 2027 Adaptive Ice Skating and Hockey Program
Project Description:

Hockey Mentors for Special Players seeks support for its 2027 Adaptive Ice Skating and Hockey Program serving children and young adults with disabilities in Southeast Michigan. The program provides inclusive, adaptive ice skating and hockey opportunities for youth from birth through age 21 who face physical, cognitive, or developmental challenges and are often excluded from traditional sports programs.

Through monthly adaptive skating sessions and an annual community event, participants receive individualized support from trained volunteers, access to adaptive equipment, and a safe, welcoming environment that promotes physical activity, confidence, and social connection. Programming is designed to be accessible and affordable, removing financial and logistical barriers for families.

Grant funds will be used to support core program expenses including ice time, adaptive equipment, insurance, and participant supplies during the 2027 program year. By supporting this project, the foundation will help ensure continued access to inclusive recreational opportunities that improve health, well-being, and quality of life for children and young adults with disabilities.
