Project Title: Programmatic Support for Kilometer Kids
Project Description:

Kilometer Kids is Atlanta Track Club Foundation’s free, game‑based running program for children ages five through twelve. Offered during both the fall and spring seasons, the program teaches the power of running, goal setting, healthy habits, and social‑emotional skills through fun, accessible activities.
Kilometer Kids currently operates nearly 150 sites across Metro Atlanta, serving more than 6,000 children annually. Across each ten‑week season, participants work toward the milestone of completing 13.1 or 26.2 miles, building confidence and consistency one step at a time. A core strength of the program is its community‑based coaching model: coaches are intentionally recruited from the neighborhoods where the children live, ensuring mentorship from trusted adults already engaged in their community.
To elevate program quality, Kilometer Kids recently completed a new 164‑page curriculum, which is available for the Hermanowski Foundation to review upon request. This updated curriculum strengthens the program’s focus on youth development, physical literacy, and long‑term engagement.
As a grant‑funded initiative, Kilometer Kids relies on philanthropic investment to remain free and accessible to all families. For the 2026–2027 program year, we seek support in three essential areas:
Program Supplies – $4,000
Equipment such as wagons, pinnies, cones, and other materials needed for safe, engaging practices.
Coaching Support – $5,000
Uniforms, whistles, and required resources for our volunteer coaches who deliver consistent, high‑quality programming.
Elite Athlete Visits – $1,000
Travel stipends for elite runners who visit sites throughout the year to inspire and encourage young participants.
Support from the Hermanowski Foundation would directly fuel access, inspiration, and community connection for thousands of young runners across Atlanta.

Total Project Budget: Our total budget for Kilometer Kids is $302,791.
