Project Title: Trauma-Informed and Trauma-Responsive Agency Implementation and Practice
Project Description:

Glove House’s treatment philosophy includes being a Trauma Informed agency, based upon best practices and recommendations from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. Glove House not only wants to be a trauma informed agency, but a trauma informed practicing agency. Our overall Trauma-Responsive Practice Plan is tasked with the establishment, implementation and evaluation of plans that facilitate the full implementation of Trauma-Responsive Care and Practices throughout the agency. The plan consists of 9 essential strategic priorities and objectives. We are seeking funding for a portion of the implementation of the plan.
Priority – Awareness. The objective of this Priority is to promote a greater understanding of trauma and its impact on the lives of those we serve, staff directly serving our clients and the provision of educational information to our communities and stakeholders. This includes planning and implementing an awareness campaign within the Agency and in the communities we serve. Included is the development and distribution of promotional materials, i.e., posters, websites, brochures, cards, etc.; frequent communication to all staff, external stakeholders and communities regarding Trauma Responsive Principles and Practices and the promotion of Trauma-Responsive Language. We also plan to engage other organizations in becoming more Trauma-Responsive. We are seeking $5000 to assist with professional design and production of these materials.
Priority – Staff Development and Support. Our objective is developing and implementing activities and interventions to assist staff members in developing resiliency and healing re: secondary traumatic stress. Engaging, encouraging, and providing opportunities for direct service staff to practice self-care and wellness activities regularly is a focus. This benefits not only them, but those in their care. We are seeking $5,000 to provide collaborative self-care opportunities for staff to include speakers from the medical, physical fitness, nutritional fields, along with stress reduction techniques, yoga, massage, hobby development, and retreat opportunities.
