Project Title: Day Dream Mini Series
Project Description:

The Daydream Miniseries targets students in grades 9-12 at schools in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Meeting students at their current levels of development in math, science, technology and business skills, we introduce them to local workers and entrepreneurs who are getting paid to apply the concepts they are learning. We use SEL programming to build their confidence and resilience to persist in STEM learning and workforce preparation–to Dream Big and enjoy a Bright Future.

During a Daydream workshop, groups of 20+ students are led by a Subject Matter Expert (SME) through an interactive workshop that connects technical knowledge to a career pathway such as financial literacy, fashion design, gardening/green technology, music production, and more. A Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) specialist–a licensed therapist or social worker–also teaches the students a coping strategy such as anger management and time management.

Daydream sessions adapt to student strengths and school needs. By linking academic concepts to attainable careers, the program empowers students to see themselves as capable contributors to their communities and to a rapidly evolving workforce. We present a wide range of interests, ensuring that students who do not identify as STEM-interested can still find a path that resonates with their passions and aspirations.
