Project Title: Library Renovation
Project Description:

Provident Charter School (PCS) was founded in 2016 with a mission to provide tuition-free education for children in grades 1–8 who struggle with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

1 in 5 children have dyslexia or another language-based learning deficit. Yet traditional schools often are not designed to meet their specific instructional needs. PCS exists to close that gap and allow children to maximize their potential.

Our program is intentionally structured to serve students who require explicit, systematic, multisensory reading instruction delivered in small classroom settings. We provide specialized instruction that allows students not only to learn to read, but to build confidence, independence, and academic resilience. We are currently the only school in the country providing taekwondo as a class to build confidence in struggling children.

The demand for this model is clear. Families have relocated to Pennsylvania from states* including Virginia, Florida, Texas, NY and Ohio specifically so their children can attend PCS. That level of commitment reflects both the scarcity of specialized dyslexia-focused public school options and the transformative impact our program has on students and families.

Research shows that structured outdoor play improves executive functioning, working memory, emotional resilience, and attention — all critical areas for students with dyslexia. Our current outdoor space is limited and does not adequately meet the developmental and sensory needs of our students.

Funding will allow us to create a safe, therapeutic, and academically integrated outdoor environment that supports the whole child — cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. This playground will not only enhance daily instruction but will also serve as a model for inclusive design in specialized public charter education.

By investing in this project, the foundation can directly impact the well-being, confidence, and academic growth of students who learn differently — ensuring they have a space where they can move and thrive.
