Project Title: Fourth of July 250th Celebration Concert
Project Description:

The Worcester Symphony Orchestra (WSO) is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) whose only goal is to provide great symphonic music at reasonable prices to the Worcester, Massachusetts area. Our organization has proudly provided cultural enrichment to this region for over 51 years. As we celebrate our 52nd season, our commitment to enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve only grows stronger.

Our goal is stage at least three to four concerts a year going forward. This summer we are performing a concert at Polar Park in Worcester (this is a minor league baseball stadium for the Worcester Woo Sox) on July 4, 2026 (American music celebrating American’s 250th Birthday). We are conducting this concert free of charge as a civic donation to the city of Worcester. However, we still must pay our musicians for their services which is around $25,000 in total for about 55 musicians. The public will buy tickets to this event at nominal prices. We also want to give back to the local music community, so we want to give tickets away to high school music students and faculty in the City of Worcester public high school music programs. We want to inspire young people to pursue their love of great music by exposing them to great live concerts that they might otherwise not be able to afford, this is the impact this funding will have. This grant will be used to partially offset the lost revenue of ticket sales of around 300-400 tickets as well as help to pay for our musicians.

Total Project Budget: $35,000
