Project Description:

Combat Boots 2 The Boardroom (CB2TB) proposes Literacy In A Box – Tied to Literacy, a structured literacy intervention designed to increase reading engagement and comprehension for youth ages 6–14 in Bryan County, GA and surrounding U.S. rural communities. Despite strong local commitment to education, reading proficiency disparities persist among students from economically vulnerable and military-connected households. Literacy In A Box addresses these gaps by delivering curated age-appropriate boxes that include: leveled books, guided comprehension worksheets, vocabulary-building activities, and creative script-writing templates that integrate storytelling with reading comprehension.

Each Literacy Box is designed not only to strengthen foundational reading skills but also to cultivate confidence, communication skills, and creative expression. Families and community partners participate in literacy exercises to reinforce at-home reading routines and engagement, magnifying program reach.
