Project Title: Safe Haven Restoration Project
Project Description:

On behalf of the Mikey 23 Foundation, we would like to express our strong interest in securing support for our housing restoration initiative made possible by the generous donation of a residential property from a local investor. While the home requires substantial repairs and rehabilitation, we view this project as a powerful opportunity to address homelessness while simultaneously equipping young people with meaningful, hands-on construction skills.

The donated house needs extensive updates, including roofing, plumbing, electrical improvements, drywall, flooring, and general structural repairs. Our goal is to fully renovate the property and transform it into safe, dignified transitional housing for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a focus on young adults and returning citizens working toward stability and independence.

A unique and impactful component of this project is the involvement of youth enrolled in the Mikey 23 Foundation’s apprenticeship and workforce development programs. Under the supervision of licensed contractors and experienced mentors, participants will assist with various phases of the renovation process. This real-world experience will allow them to develop practical skills in carpentry, construction safety, project management, and teamwork. By working on a home that will serve those in need, our youth will not only gain trade experience but also develop a sense of pride, ownership, and community responsibility.

Funding will support critical building materials, licensed contractor oversight, code compliance, tools, and furnishings necessary to make the home move-in ready. Upon completion, this property will serve as a stable environment paired with supportive services designed to help residents transition toward employment and self-sufficiency.
