Project Description:

Teach Them How is an immersive, hands-on learning experience designed to equip Pre K- 12grade students with practical skills that promote food security, sustainability, and self-sufficiency. The program bridges classroom knowledge with real-world application, giving students the tools and confidence to understand where food comes from, how it is produced, and how it can be preserved and utilized responsibly.
Through interactive workshops and live demonstrations, students gain experience in food production, preservation techniques such as canning, dehydration, and freeze-drying, nutrition education, and agricultural-based problem-solving. Participants learn how to grow food, reduce waste, improve household food resilience, and make informed nutritional choices. These experiences foster independence while strengthening awareness of local food systems and sustainable agricultural practices.
Beyond technical skills, Teach Them How cultivates leadership, critical thinking, teamwork, and workforce readiness. Students are challenged to think creatively about solutions to real-world challenges related to food access, sustainability, and community resilience. Exposure to agricultural science and agribusiness pathways also introduces potential career opportunities within the agricultural sector.
