Project Title: HYPE Mentoring Program
Project Description:

H.Y.P.E. (Harnessing Youth’s Potential & Energy) NOLA Mentoring Program, is a community-based initiative serving youth ages 10–18 who face elevated risks associated with poverty, academic underperformance, exposure to violence, foster care involvement, or engagement with the juvenile justice system. H.Y.P.E.’s mission is to provide consistent mentoring, academic reinforcement, life-skills instruction, and positive adult guidance that strengthens resilience and creates pathways to long-term success.
Operating in partnership with local juvenile courts, public schools, and child-serving agencies across Jefferson Parish and Orleans Parish, H.Y.P.E. prioritizes youth who are traditionally underserved, including those living in foster homes, group homes, or in neighborhoods with limited supportive services.
H.Y.P.E.’s model integrates multiple evidence-informed components to meet the holistic needs of participants:
• One-to-One and Group Mentoring: Structured, dependable relationships that emphasize accountability, goal-setting, emotional support, and positive decision-making.
• Afterschool Enrichment and Academic Support: Homework assistance, tutoring, social-emotional learning, and enrichment activities designed to improve school engagement and performance.
• Life Skills and Leadership Development: Training in conflict resolution, financial literacy, communication, and career exploration to prepare youth for adulthood.
• Transportation Assistance: Reliable transportation that removes a common barrier to participation for families facing hardship.
• Teen Technology Access: Development of a Teen Tech Center offering computers, digital literacy instruction, and exposure to technology-driven career pathways.
Through these integrated services, H.Y.P.E. fosters stability, builds confidence, and equips young people with the tools necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally—ultimately guiding them toward productive and purposeful futures.
