Project Title: Little Sister Peer to Peer Mentoring
Project Description:

The R.E.A.L Girlz Little Sister Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program is a structured, bi-weekly mentorship initiative designed to foster social-emotional growth, self-confidence, and positive identity development among elementary school girls. Through a near-peer mentoring model, trained high school R.E.A.L Girlz participants serve as “Big Sisters,” leading engaging group sessions for their “Little Sisters” in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

This program is grounded in the belief that girls thrive when they see positive reflections of themselves in relatable role models. High school mentors receive training in leadership development, communication skills, trauma-informed engagement practices, and age-appropriate facilitation techniques before leading sessions. Mentorship gatherings are held twice per month and focus on key areas including social-emotional learning (SEL), self-love, healthy friendships, emotional regulation, confidence building, and goal setting.

Each session incorporates interactive, play-based learning activities such as team-building games, creative arts projects, guided discussions, journaling exercises, and collaborative problem-solving activities. These structured yet fun experiences allow elementary students to practice empathy, self-expression, and resilience while building meaningful connections with older peers.

The program also benefits the high school mentors by strengthening their leadership capacity, responsibility, public speaking skills, and community engagement. Serving as role models reinforces their own self-worth and accountability while creating a positive cycle of empowerment.

By bridging the gap between elementary and high school students, the R.E.A.L Girlz Little Sister Program cultivates a culture of sisterhood, mentorship, and community uplift. The program supports academic readiness, emotional well-being, and personal growth, ensuring that young girls develop the confidence and tools necessary to navigate challenges and envision a bright future.
