Project Title: CB1 Financial Empowerment & Youth Leadership Initiative
Project Description:

The CB1 Financial Empowerment & Youth Leadership Initiative, led by the Celeste Burgess One Foundation, is designed to equip underserved youth and families in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, North Carolina with essential financial literacy, leadership, and life-skills education needed to achieve long-term economic stability.

Many youth and families in our community face barriers related to poverty, limited financial education, and lack of access to mentorship opportunities that promote informed financial decision-making. This program addresses these challenges by providing structured financial literacy workshops, mentorship sessions, and hands-on learning experiences focused on budgeting, saving, credit awareness, banking fundamentals, entrepreneurship, and goal setting.

Participants ages 8–24, along with their families, will engage in interactive workshops led by trained volunteers and community partners. The program also incorporates youth leadership development activities that build confidence, responsibility, and workforce readiness skills. Families are encouraged to participate alongside students to strengthen household financial knowledge and promote generational financial empowerment.

Funding will support program materials, educational resources, workshop facilitation, participant supplies, and outreach efforts to ensure accessibility for low-to-moderate income households. The initiative will serve approximately 75–100 youth and family members annually through ongoing sessions hosted in safe, community-based environments.

By increasing financial knowledge, strengthening decision-making skills, and fostering mentorship connections, the CB1 Financial Empowerment & Youth Leadership Initiative aims to improve financial confidence, encourage positive economic behaviors, and create sustainable pathways toward financial independence and community success.
