Project Title: Calm Quest
Project Description:
A 12-week evidence-based mental health program for under-resourced youth that uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and peer support models, the program equips participants with practical tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, and build healthy self-concepts. Delivered once per week by a licensed mental health professional, each session follows a consistent, trauma-informed structure: guided journaling and emotional check-ins, positive affirmations, interactive skill-building lessons, stress-reduction techniques (e.g., box breathing, visualization, meditation), and reflective discussion. Youth engage in a safe, supportive space that promotes trust, accountability, and community. Across 12 weeks, participants explore core domains: Self-Awareness, mindfulness, accountability, and acknowledgement.
Topics include bullying, racial injustice, healing from hurt, rebuilding self-esteem, stages of change, maintaining positive behavior shifts, and developing a personal vision for the future. Youth leave with individualized coping plans and clearly defined goals. Program outcomes include increased self-awareness, improved emotional regulation, enhanced resilience, and greater use of positive coping strategies. To measure impact, C.O.P.E. administers validated screening tools (PHQ-9 and GAD-7) to assess changes in depression and anxiety symptoms over time.
Calm Quest empowers youth to “Choose Options for Positive Effects,” fostering confidence, self-worth, and lifelong mental wellness while advancing our mission to reduce bullying, strengthen protective factors, and decrease youth suicide rates.
