Project Title: Young Artists Program (Y.A.P)
Project Description:

We have great participation from performers ages five to eighteen and their parents often help with costumes, sets, props, etc. It provides a creative outlet for the family. Some participants have been training with us for years and some are having their first stage experience. The more seasoned performers are great mentors to the newer actors. These shows attract large audiences of all ages.

In addition to the youth shows we produce, we offer a variety of workshops. We teach the fundamentals of performing on stage, musical theatre and technical theatre training. We offer these workshops at the lowest possible cost and offer full and partial scholarships to students who could not otherwise afford to participate.

In addition to the youth production every year, our young artists also have opportunities to participate in at least one show with an adult cast. This mixed age show has become a favorite for families to participate in together. Our Young Artists also have opportunities to work backstage.

Since the inception of our youth program, we have produced many shows: Charlotte’s Web, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Alice in Wonderland, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, James and the Giant Peach, The Yellow Boat, Shrek The Musical, Beauty & The Beast, The Little Mermaid, A Wrinkle in Time, The Stinky Cheese Man, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr., Frozen Jr., and Matilda Jr, the Musical, The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition, and The Wizard of OZ. In 2025 we are offering two iconic opportunities for our youth with productions of Beetlejuice Jr. and The Snow Queen.

Scholarships
Each year, Ennis Public Theatre offers at least one $1000 scholarship(s) to a graduating senior who has participated in some way (classes, shows, crew, volunteer, etc.) at our theatre.
