Project Description:
For The Children Inc. “FTC” has been a pioneer in providing quality education, family support services that promote positive physical, social, emotional, cognitive growth, and development for low- income families with children ages 3-5 and sibling (s) located at the historic Osborne School in the City of Lake Worth Beach, Florida. FTC is dedicated to and prioritizes prevention to help low-income families and their children realize their full potential. We believe in strengthening proactive factors to prevent child maltreatment by giving families the tools, skills, supports and opportunities they need to succeed. At FTC, children and youth experience cognitive, academic, social, and physical enrichment in an environment that encourages creativity, learning, and strong development. Their parents are provided with individual supports they need to create and maintain stable homes for their families, and be healthy, positive contributors to our respected community. Our comprehensive, on-site Family Support Program provides our families with “one stop” services, including preventative health, developmental and behavioral health screenings and intervention, case management, parenting and financial education, nutritional knowledge, and ESOL classes. Our family support program also aids families who need help accessing economic assistance, housing, transportation, job training and employment. This comprehensive wrap-around support delivers the multifaceted programming disadvantaged, at-risk children and their families need to break the cycle of poverty and child maltreatment and build stronger, healthier families, and a more resilient south Florida community.
Family support services at FTC have evolved over time, to become more robust and impactful. The family support services will enhance our existing FTC services. The approval of this request will enhance our ability to support the safety and stability of children and their families, increasing our capacity to engage and build the skills of Central Palm Beach County families, including fathers, teen parents, grandparents, single mothers, and blended families.
