A Kid Again Adventures are designed to bring joy, connection, and moments of relief to children living with life-threatening and chronic illnesses — and to the families who walk every step of that journey alongside them. While medical care focuses on treatment and survival, Adventures focus on living — creating opportunities for families to laugh together, make memories, and feel the weight of illness lift, even if just for a day.
Throughout the year, families are invited to cost-free Adventures such as theme parks, zoos, sporting events, holiday celebrations, and other shared experiences in their community. Every detail is thoughtfully considered so families can simply arrive and enjoy time together. There is no cost to attend, and needs like parking, meals, accessibility accommodations, and medical considerations are built in — removing the financial and logistical barriers that so often prevent families from participating in typical childhood experiences.
The impact of an Adventure reaches far beyond the event itself. Children facing serious illness have the chance to feel like kids again — not patients defined by diagnoses or treatment plans. Parents and caregivers experience meaningful respite from the daily demands of caregiving, and siblings — who often carry quiet emotional burdens — are fully included in the joy. Just as important, families connect with others who understand their journey, building a community of support that lasts well beyond the day.
By providing ongoing Adventures rather than one-time experiences, A Kid Again creates a rhythm of hope families can count on. Grant support helps ensure more families have access to these moments of joy, togetherness, and healing — reminding them they are not alone and that brighter days still exist, even in the midst of hardship.
