Project Title: Giving Hope Family Support Program
Project Description:

Children diagnosed with cancer face a host of emotions and fear of the unknown. It is an incredibly stressful time for these young patients as they prepare to fight for their life. Post’s Giving Hope Family Support Program is a comprehensive initiative providing free psychosocial services to children battling cancer. This program is designed to help these children navigate the overwhelming challenges of cancer, offering critical support to reduce fear, stress, and the risk of long-term trauma. The funds will be used to support the following services:

Our services include individual and family therapy, medical play, procedural support and survivorship support. These resources are tailored to each child’s unique needs, helping them find strength and hope during an incredibly difficult time. We are available 24/7 for our patients and are able to make hospital visits.

We use medical play and procedural support to help prepare children for medical and hospital experiences that can be scary and overwhelming. By giving children, the opportunity to become familiar with medical equipment such as needles, oxygen masks, and IV’s, it can reduce their anxiety before and during treatment. We use procedural support to help prepare them for hospital experiences and provide coping skills for both the child and the parent.
We also emphasize emotional and mental health support for children. We have licensed therapists and child life specialists who are available at any time to help them through the varied emotions they experience. We try to reduce the fear and stress that goes along with a cancer diagnosis. This includes support after treatment as it can take children quite some time to adjust to new daily routines and school re-entry. This focus is to ensure that these children succeed in post treatment and thrive in their daily life, reaching their maximum potential
