Project Title: Good2Great Youth Basketball Development & Life Skills Program
Project Description:

The Good2Great Youth Basketball Development & Life Skills Program provides structured, affordable basketball training and mentorship for youth ages 8–14 in underserved communities within Contra Costa County. Operated by Good2Great Skills Academy, the program uses basketball as a tool to teach discipline, confidence, teamwork, and accountability while promoting positive physical and mental development.
Participants receive consistent weekly training focused on fundamental skill development (ball handling, shooting, footwork, conditioning), small-group instruction, and character-building activities led by experienced coaches. The program prioritizes access for families facing financial barriers by offering reduced-cost and scholarship-supported participation, ensuring youth are not excluded due to economic limitations.
Grant funding will directly support gym facility rental, coaching stipends, training equipment, and program scholarships. These resources will allow Good2Great to expand program capacity, maintain a safe and structured training environment, and serve more youth year-round. The project strengthens youth development outcomes while fostering healthy lifestyles, leadership skills, and positive community engagement.
